RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

Incumbent performs the following: Designs systems, components, structures, and processes. Capture and analyzes technical and management requirements, and defines detailed design requirements, with understanding of available technologies, impact on business processes, engineering standards, and the efficiencies and attributes of quality engineering processes and products. Evaluates performance and life-cycle operational requirements, and develops engineering design to meet customer requirements. Prepares layouts and specifications; reviews design proposals and drawings; and assures that specifications meet performance requirements. Develops technical specifications, requisition and bid documents, inspection and testing requirements. Analyzes and resolves design and production issues.

 

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:

 

Position Requires Mechanical Engineer with expertise dealing with Mechanical Piping Systems including but not limited to Demineralized Water, 150 LB Steam and Condensate, 600 LB Steam and Condensate, Compressed Air, City Water, River Water, High Pressure Air (3000# and 5000#), Propane, Nitrogen, Oxygen, and Argon. Additional expertise required in Plant Operating Systems related to Powerhouse Boilers, High Pressure Boilers, Pumping Stations, Compressed Air Stations, Chemical and Oily Waste plants. Emphasis should be place on boiler plants/steam piping distribution systems and applicable codes since primary responsibilities will be to support plant operations in these areas. Additional experience in PLC based control systems and strategies is highly desired. Familiarity with writing procedures and developing Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&ID’s) is also desired. Requires a Bachelor's degree Mechanical/Maritime engineering from an ABET accredited school of engineering, and 5 or more years of specialized engineering experience. A candidate must be able to apply a thorough understanding of engineering/design specifications, and engineering principles and methods, to perform engineering analysis and resolve engineering problems of significant complexity. A comprehensive knowledge of engineering analysis and design applications programs as well as developed analytical, problem-solving, conceptual, and general project management and communications skills is required. A master's degree in engineering discipline may substitute for the 2 years experience requirement. A candidate may also qualify for this position based on the acquisition of a bachelor's or higher degree in mechanical engineering. Such candidates must have at least 5 years of professional engineering experience which was acquired under professional engineering supervision and guidance. May require the ability to physically access a wide variety of work sites, including those aboard ships under various stages of construction or overhaul, including the use of vertical and inclined ladders, and may involve limited kneeling, stooping, standing, etc. Assignments generally involve complex engineering tasks and issues, and often involve new product design, systems integration, process reengineering, etc., and requiring developed expertise in both engineering and business processes.

EMPHASIS SHOULD BE PLACED ON BOILER PLANTS /STEAM PIPING DISTRIBUTION SYSTEMS AND APPLICABLE CODES SINCE PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES WILL BE TO SUPPORT PLANT OPERATIONS IN THESE AREAS Really need to have exp with Boilers and drafting Kingspoint Graduate - Maritime Academy a big PLUS.
