RESPONSIBILITIES: Support development of 787 Backup Tooling (Wing, Section 44, Section 30) for transport in AN-124 Aircraft. Required to work with Volga Dneper and CLAAS (Tooling manufacturer). Follow thru required with 787 Stress Engineering. Support development and complete SOW for 787 Back-up pallets for Section 11-45 and Section 43 for Sea Transport. Support development of Backup 747 DreamLifter Back-up Loader and Tail support. Some Travel Required. prefer CATIA V5 experience. Designs and modifies complex aerospace manufacturing tools. Leads activities to develop and implements alternative methods and interim solutions for damaged and unsafe tools and equipment to meet functional requirements. Analyzes and revises preventive maintenance requirements for tools. Researches, develops and evaluates new technical approaches and tool engineering processes for applicability to programs and products. Ensures and approves safety, producibility, ergonomic factors and regulatory requirements are incorporated in designs. Investigates highly complex design engineering changes for impact to existing definition to maintain engineering configuration and initiates action. Leads investigation to ensure compliance with regulatory and contractual requirements for tool, equipment or process modifications. Mentors and trains others. Works under minimal direction. REQUIRED EXPERIENCE: Leads, performs, and approves the development of multiple highly complex tool and equipment concepts and alternatives. Conducts and oversees comprehensive trade studies, creates models, sketches, prototypes and simulations for design reviews and to refine and mature concepts for transition to detail tool definition to ensure fit, form, function and cost. Researches design information to validate and approve the design approach. Analyzes highly complex tolerance stack up and assembly requirements to optimize designs. Reviews/checks work of less experienced employees for accuracy. Reviews features and systems of complex tool and equipment design to ensure and approve requirements are met. Performs, reviews, and approves complex analysis, such as stress, static and dynamic loading, thermal factors, etc by applying engineering and scientific principals. Ensures and approves safety, producibility, ergonomic factors and regulatory requirements are incorporated in designs. Reviews/checks work of less experienced employees for accuracy. Plans, schedules and organizes work for the group. Coordinates and resolves complex or emergent tooling issues with customers and suppliers. Develops recommendations on resolution of complex tooling issues. Prepares and presents recommendations to stakeholders. Screens and approves outgoing work packages. Participates in cross functional initiatives to improve manufacturing efficiency and effectiveness. Creates complex tool designs.
