RESPONSIBILITIES: An incumbent is subject to the standardized practices/procedures established by the Division. Uses past examples of similar situations to perform duties. Given specific work assignments; receives periodic supervision while the task is being completed. Allowed to vary work routine w/in the limitations of the Division's procedures/precedents. May receive technical direction from Engineers; may function in a leadership role, providing technical direction to work groups/assisting supervisor in planning/coordination responsibilities. Might perform any of the following activities: Compile data/perform computations/analyze results/prepare reports to assist in the resolution of technical problems concerning engineering objectives/processes/equipment/products. Resolves/proposes resolutions for design, construction and/or operational problems in ship's systems based on previous experience; assigned the more complex technician/analyst tasks. Works closely w/ Engineers/ Designers/production personnel to identify/resolve technical issues. Review complex technical documents from an editorial/technical perspective; make appropriate corrections; prepare final drafts to ensure that finished documents are accurate/meet objectives. Prepare complex technical instructions to ensure engineering standardization in ship operational procedures/data requirements/report format. Prepare/review material/component specification documents; provisioning technical documentation; review vendor responses to ensure conformity to specifications. Resolve discrepancies/process waivers/deviations. Prepare related indices/catalogs. Detail work breakdown from engineering drawings for work levels/responsible shops/departments; determine the best method for fabrication of products; and produce detailed work instructions in support of shop fabrication, assembly and shipboard construction. Group all information to items needed by the Trades (material descriptions/types/control levels/quantities/sources; ship/shop routing designations, etc.), from Material Identification Marks on engineering drawings to produce a Construction Bill of Material (CBM) to support shop fabrication/assembly/shipboard construction. Develop and/or modify maintenance standards such as maintenance requirement cards/technical repair standards for the more complex equipment/components. Review configuration change documentation to evaluate impacts on maintenance standards/prepare impact assessment reports. Develop, write, and/or modify the technical content of ship equipment/systems/damage control manuals; review and/or modify related illustrations/selected record drawings for technical accuracy. Prepare provisioning technical documentation which establishes the range/depth of spares/tools/test equipment carried on ships/tenders/stocked in Navy supply system. Develop records of equipment/components to support the Navy's preparation of ships Consolidated Shipboard Allowance List (COSAL). Prepare requisitions for repair parts as required by the COSAL. Manage stowage records to allow allocation of shipboard stowage facilities of repair parts/other items. Support non-nuclear Test Engineering in preparing/reviewing/revising test procedures for the testing/operation of ships' components/systems. Conduct the more complex shipboard, shop or vendor testing/resolve testing problems. Provide assistance to Technicians, Engineering or Laboratory personnel w/ regard to test procedures/problems; includes installing required test apparatus/conducting tests/documenting results/ensuring results meet test specifications. Troubleshoot systems/equipment problems. Isolate problems to a specific component. Determine what steps must be taken to correct problems/provide technical guidance/assistance to other Technicians and Engineers. Provides guidance. REQUIRED EXPERIENCE: Experience with NAVY SPS-67 & SPQ-14 systems or comparable electronics systems is required. Candidate have 3 years experience with the following: One-On-One Communication, Oral Communication, Walking/Standing/Sitting, Written Communications, Computer literate, Technical Support and Engineering Technician. Preferred candidate with 3 years experience with Shipbuilding.
