RESPONSIBILITIES: Defines test programs for research in acoustics and applies acoustic analytical techniques in order to determine suppression system program results and adequacy to meet regulatory/specified noise requirements. Defines noise concepts, specifications and guarantees. Designs structural, airframe, nacelle and component elements of flight vehicles to ensure compliance with noise regulations, specs and guarantees. Applies knowledge of inspection tools and techniques to mechanical subassemblies, assemblies, installations, rigging and systems. Verifies and conducts test functions. Develops new technology in the field of acoustics including the development of new and enhanced tools and processes. Works under general direction. REQUIRED EXPERIENCE: Provides technical solutions to a wide range of difficult problems. Develops solutions that are imaginative, thorough, practicable, and consistent with organization objectives. EDUCATION: Degree and typical experience in engineering classification: Bachelor's and 5 or more years' experience, Master's degree with 3 or more years' experience or PhD degree with experience. Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry. ABET is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard. MISCELLANEOUS: Some travel may be required. Candidate must be flexible to work in Renton & Everett.
