Description: Chipton-Ross is seeking a Dev Ops Engineer for an opening in Long Beach, CA.

RESPONSIBILITIES
Independently determines and develops approaches to solutions. Receive general direction for work that is reviewed upon completion for adequacy in meeting objectives. Develop solutions to a wide range of complex technical problems that require ingenuity and innovation. Use knowledge of technology developments to determine the approach to design and development. Documents and presents design alternatives. Participates in team and peer design review as a presenter and evaluator. Provide a technical interface to change-assessment meetings. Determines and develops approaches to solutions. Develop, document, and maintain processes, methods, and tools. Help resolve programmatic and technical problems that would affect cost schedule, and performance. Guide less experienced staff; acts as a technical leader.
o Contribute in the DevOps team to maintain and build out infrastructure and servers.
o Evolve infrastructure, server, deployment strategies and testing to support goal of 100% up-time and quick turnaround of deployments for the engineering organization.
o Continuously improve infrastructure to be easy to deploy, scalable, secure and fault-tolerant
o Work closely with Architects, Engineers, Product Managers and other clients and partners of the DevOps team to meet the needs of the organization to stay competitive - from the infrastructure up to the highest level of applications.
o Collaborate development, QA, and operations organizations and play significant roles at different phases of the application lifecycle.
o Take on responsibilities of being on-call, writing deployment scripts, debugging applications, evaluating new technologies and more.
o Develop scalable, secure and enterprise-grade deployments and work with team of dedicated engineers, product managers to support common goals.
o Travel as required to US domestic locations during the business day. Some international travel to UK and India may be expected including weekends as necessary.
o Strong problem solving, decision making and facilitation skills.
o Strong focus on creating high quality deliverables.
o A commitment to best practices. We'll want your opinions on operational processes, DevOps, deployment checklists, and more.
o Have an understanding of software development methodology, tools, techniques and framework.
o Possess the ability to quickly understand complex business processes and work in a team environment to develop solutions to meet business needs.
o Focus on industry developments regarding new technologies and how they can be applied to the company's business.
o Ability to coach/train team members as required.
o Experience with formal risk management processes.
o Experience defining organization of work and allocation of tasks.
o Ability to adjust to changing priorities.
o Have excellent communication skills for team interaction and to document and present technical issues in a straightforward and understandable way.
o Understand and be able to present the entire project visions to management, customers and the team members.
o Other duties as assigned.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:
Minimum of 6-8 years of experience within information technology in both infrastructure and development. Experience in the most current technologies and products used in the industry.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIRMENTS:
o Experience with automation/configuration management using either Puppet, Chef or an equivalent.
o Familiarity with SCM tools (Git, SVN, Perforce).
o Familiarity with Collaboration/workflow tools (JIRA, Sharepoint, Confluence).
o Familiarity with Build Tools (Jenkins, TeamCity).
o Strong background in Linux/Unix Administration and the best practices for deploying applications to those stacks.
o Strong experience with administrative or language support for SQL and MySQL (NoSQL experience is a plus).
o A working understanding of code and script (PHP, Python, Perl and/or Ruby) Java, Python, .net, Ruby.
o Knowledge about APIs, RESTful services and integrate with other data providers, and you know when to use JSON or XML.
o Working understanding unix shell scripts. Preferably BASH, but also CSH and KSH. Highly knowledgeable in POSIX regex and sed/awk would be a plus.
o A solid understanding of networking and core Internet protocols (e.g. TCP/IP, DNS, SMTP, HTTP, and distributed networks).
o A solid understanding of https, SSL, TLS, SAML, OAuth, java web tokens.
o Ability to use a wide variety of open source technologies and cloud services (experience with AWS or Azure).
o Experience with cloud services. You know the "gotchas," potential problems, and how to setup a geographically redundant service in the cloud.

EDUCATION:
Requires an accredited Bachelors Degree or equivalent technical experience.
Preferred Degree: Information Technology.
