Northrop Grumman Technology Services sector is seeking a Senior Systems Engineer with specialization in ESX, to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. The qualified applicant will become part of Northrop Grumman's Virginia Information Technology Agency (VITA) Program, which is a 13 year, $2B program, responsible for providing end-to-end IT Infrastructure to the Commonwealth of Virginia.
This role is on the Engineering team responsible for the strategic direction of the VITA program's IT infrastructure including multiple ESX environments hosting approximately 2,500 Virtual Servers.
The ideal candidate is a Systems Thinker who is flexible and has a "can do" attitude. They must be able to effectively juggle multiple tasks and prioritize competing projects and assignments. They must have a working technical knowledge of multiple areas to include, VMWARE's ESX, NSX, server OS, Storage Area Networks and Networking.
Roles and Responsibilities:
o Primary engineer/architect for the VITA programs ESX environment hosting approximately 2,500 VMs.
o Provide leadership and guidance on large scale infrastructure projects spanning a wide variety of technology areas.
o Apply "Systems Thinking" methodologies to project planning and implementation.
o Work with the project management team to develop comprehensive project plans, labor forecasts and schedules.
o Contribute to the development of new services, techniques, and standards.
o Act as consultant and advisor to executive leadership and customers.
o Mentor and train team members.
o Work with project management to execute complex infrastructure projects.
o Identify and develop process and workflow improvements across the enterprise.
o Design, develop, build, analyze, evaluate and install new IT solutions.
o Create Service Design Documents and Engineering Change Plans for IT infrastructure projects.
o Create and maintain Engineering standards, processes and procedures for the organization.
o Plan and implement upgrade and migration projects.
This position will be located in the Chester, VA. This is a contract to hire position.

o Bachelor's degree with 9 years of related work experience.
o VCP 5 certification or above.
o Experience with Converged Infrastructure (e.g. VBLOCK, Cisco UCS).
o Experience with VMWARE ESXi configuration and installation.
o Experience with ESX 5 and 6.
o Experience with Windows and Linux operating systems.
o Understanding of IT service delivery.
o Proven customer services in a complex environment.
o Excellent interpersonal skills.
o Self-motivated and ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment.
o Must be a team player, proactive, and possess excellent problem-solving, communication, and organizational skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
o Extensive experience with Cisco UCS and UCS Manager.
o Experience with VMWare configuration and design.
o Working knowledge of VMWARE's VSphere Orchestrator, or VCloud Automation.
o Experience with SAN (EMC) configuration and installation.
o Experience with configuration and installation of Netbackup, Avamar and EBARs technologies.
o Powershell, Power CLI or VB script writing experience.
o ITIL certification.
o PMP certification.

Bachelor's degree is required.
