Description: Chipton-Ross is now hiring for a Temporary Technician in San Diego, CA.

We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Temporary, Full-time, Technician position to work within our client’s Inertial Fusion Technology (IFT) group. Under general supervision with limited review, the successful candidate will be responsible for fabrication, assembly and characterization of first-of-a-kind Inertial Confinement Fusion (ICF) experimental components and packages, as well as the procurement, ordering, and tracking of sub-components, materials, and equipment.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Cleans, adjusts, maintains, and replaces components on lab and experimental equipment.
• Monitors and maintains material, gas bottle, and equipment inventories to ensure continuity in production processes.
• Supports the production team with routine lab tasks, such as cleaning glassware, assembling target holders, and assembling pressure vessel components.
• Operates lab and experimental equipment; collects and summarizes data.
• Assists with the procurement and purchasing of material and equipment; processes requests, tracks the status, provides updates, and ensures timely fulfillment of requests.
• Expected to work in a safe manner in accordance with established operating procedures and practices.
• Perform other duties as assigned or required.
• Typically requires associate's degree or equivalent with two or more years of experience. May substitute equivalent experience in lieu of education.
• Must be able to work with common hand tools and operate laboratory equipment.
• Must have the capability to perform complex assignments with little or no direction.
• Ability and willingness to work on systems which have unusual conditions such as high pressure, high voltage, high energy, cryogens, or radioactive materials.
• Proficient computer skills, experience using Microsoft Excel, and comfort using new programs.
• Communication skills necessary to record and relay precise information.
• Must have analytical ability to read and understand detailed instructions, drawings and specifications.
• Desired basic knowledge and awareness of hazardous material safe handling protocols and cleanroom protocols.
• Must be able to work both independently and on a team.
• Able to work extended hours as required.


Essential Qualifications Typically requires high school diploma or equivalent with one or more years of experience. Must be able to work with common hand tools. Must be able to perform a variety of routine tasks and demonstrate a good working knowledge of laboratory equipment and procedures. Ability and willingness to work on systems which have unusual conditions such as high pressure, high voltage, high energy, cryogens, or radioactive materials. Knowledge of computer operations and applications pertinent to the field required.
