Description: Chipton-Ross is seeking a Tool and Die Operator for an opening in Garden Grove, CA.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Mold making and Repair
Construct, upgrade, modify or repair tooling and fixtures.
Identify causes of tool issues and develop plans to remake, repair or upgrade tooling to increase operational efficiency.
Check dimension of tools and/or patterns using CMM and a variety of hand measuring devices, including micrometers, height gauges and dial indicators.
Develops and managers tooling projects
Set up and operate all department machine tools including mills, lathes, grinders, rotary tables; monitors and adjusts mechanical processes as required.
Provides technical assistance in ordering new molds and fixtures.
Other Primary functions:
Quality, Cost Control, Safety, Interdepartmental Services, Housekeeping/Orderly work area, Timely and Accurate Reports and documents
Demonstrate the ability to organize, instruct, and supervise large tooling programs.
Possess working knowledge of CAD/CAM programs.
Able to train toolmakers of lesser skill
Oversees tooling estimates, purchases, new tooling, production machine shop, machine vendor relations, machine estimating; Evaluate quotes to determine cost justification and manufacturing feasibility.
Ability and knowledge to solve tooling design, rework, and wax press operation problems
Perform cost analysis for rework/repair and selecting most efficient, cost effective solutions for problem.
Understanding of tooling automation methods and practices.

Essential equipment, tools and machinery used includes:
Dimensional measuring tools, equipment and machinery; Basic hand tools; CMM, CNC

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:
1+ years practical experience as Tool & Die Maker.
Completion of a structured training or apprenticeship program and at least two years of experience as a Journey Mold Maker or an equivalent combination of structured training and experience.
Experience with, working knowledge of blueprint reading and interpretation
Ability to perform math calculations, including algebra, plane and solid geometry and trigonometry
Ability to use dimensional measuring tools and devices
Ability to work independently with limited supervision
Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing; Demonstrates tact in dealing with people internally and externally.
Able to maintain confidentiality particularly with proprietary data such as tool development, pricing, and personnel.

EDUCATION:
Accredited High School Diploma/GED

WORK HOURS:
2nd Shift, Full-Time
