Chipton-Ross is seeking an Publications Coordinator II/ Internal Communications Specialist for an opening in San Diego, CA.

Job Summary
Our client currently has an exciting opportunity for an experienced, highly detailed, (Contract to Hire) Internal Communications Specialist to work with Internal Communications within the Business Communications team supporting our Electromagnetic Systems Group.
Under limited supervision, this position will be responsible for creating presentations, preparing illustrations (creative and technical), design, edit and print internal media, maintaining media & presentation archives, copywriting, and some event planning.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
•Create time-sensitive presentations in MS PowerPoint.
•Prepare illustrations for presentations, internal documents, proposals, and CDRLs.
•Assist with designing layouts, and coordinating illustrations and creative artwork for Internal Communications following specific formats.
•Proof graphics for integration into desktop publication programs following specific formats.
•May make minor edits in some graphics using Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator.
•Edit, design, and print internal publications/media.
•Must display a keen eye for layout.
•May create full color posters using Adobe Illustrator and Adobe Photoshop.
•Oversee maintenance of organization charts utilizing Visio.
•Edit material for spelling, grammar, and punctuation.
•Maintain electronic and physical files for all publication materials.
•Collaborate with staff to ensure compliance with customer format requirements.
•Exercise strong follow-up skills and track work efficiently.
•Interface with individuals in own department, contacts within the organization, as well as external customers.
•Perform other duties as assigned or required.

Requirments:
Typically requires a High School diploma and two or more years of progressive experience in desktop publishing/word processing in a commercial or government organization or a related field.
Equivalent additional work experience in publishing/word processing may be substituted in lieu of education.
Must demonstrate the ability to use a PC or MAC computer to transcribe text, tables, figures, and forms; and, have an understanding of applicable software such as MS Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Adobe Photoshop, Quark Press, and Adobe Illustrator as well as some experience demonstrating the effective use of the software.
Must possess the ability to organize, schedule, meet established timelines, and coordinate multiple work phases; determine the appropriate approach at the task level; and, provide solutions to a variety of publishing/word processing problems.
Must be able to communicate with all levels of professional staff, including management, interpret and explain complex information, establish priorities, and respond to routine issues or situations that require evaluation and interpretation, and ability to work independently or as part of a team.
Able to work extended hours as required.

Education:

HARD REQUIREMENTS:
•Requires a strong working knowledge in PowerPoint, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe InDesign, MS Word and Excel.
•Must demonstrate the ability to use a Mac computer and have a complete understanding of applicable software such as PowerPoint, Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, AcrobatPro, MS Word and Excel; as well as experience demonstrating the effective use of the software.
•Knowledge in Adobe After Effects and Visio is a plus.
•Must possess the ability to successfully organize, schedule, establish priorities, meet established timelines and deadlines, and coordinate multiple work phases under tight deadlines.
•Must be capable of determining the appropriate approach at the task level or, with assistance, at the project level; and, provide solutions to a variety of complex publishing/word processing problems while meeting multiple deadlines.
•Strong follow-up skills and tracking of work is essential.
•Must be able to communicate and interface effectively and professionally with all levels of staff, including management.
•Accurately interpret and explain complex information, and respond to complex issues or situations that require evaluation and interpretation.
•Must possess a strong understanding of customer service practices and its importance for the success of our authors and the advancement and reputation of the Electromagnetic Systems Group in the international science community.
•Must possess the ability to work well independently, and cohesively, as part of a team.
•Able to work extended hours, as required.
