RESPONSIBILITIES:
Northrop Grumman Technology Services sector is seeking a Java Developer to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be supporting the USPS CODES contract at the Virtual Development in McLean location. The qualified applicant will become part of Northrop Grumman's Postal Solutions Virtual Development Center, supporting the United States Postal Service on a variety of mission critical
web applications. Candidate understands, develops, implements, and maintains Java software solutions. Candidate must follow predefined development standards and procedures.
Roles and Responsibilities:
Developing, maintaining and experience developing software applications.
Communicating with project manager and development team members in various forms, such as Excel sheets, Word documents, etc.
Communicating with team lead and team members on the details of the proposed design and progress on the work.
Responsible for estimating effort based on requirements and adhering to estimates and timelines.
Responsible for following project management and lifecycle development processes, procedures, and standards to meet extremely high quality assurance goals.
Responsible for generating unit tests, test data and test scripts.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:
Candidate must satisfy requirements, meet agreed-to completion date(s), and perform tests for products developed.
3+ years of experience working in software development using Java.
Demonstrated expertise in HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and XML/XSL.
Expertise with the Eclipse IDE, NetBeans, and related Java build tools and techniques.
Familiarity with relational databases (HSQLDB, Oracle, PL/SQL, etc.).
Ability to understand and create user stories from customer provided requirements.
Good team working skills and meticulous attention to detail.
Preferred Qualifications:
Demonstrated experience across all phases of lifecycle development.
Ability to work directly with the customer via email, meetings and phone calls.
Familiarity with Agile software methodologies.
Experience with JAVA Swing desktop development.
Experience with Installshield or similar software.
Previous experience in medium to large sized development teams is beneficial.

EDUCATION:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field.

HOURS:
5/40 workweek
