Description: Chipton-Ross is seeking a Technician - Environmental H&S for an opening in Hawthorne, CA.

The environmental, health, and safety (EHS) technician will play a key role in the implementation, operation and maintenance of site-specific environmental and safety initiatives for the company.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
oImplement and maintain site specific safety policies
oBecome familiar with all applicable OSHA and company specific safety policies and oversee subcontractors in the field to ensure they are following OSHA protocols
oWork independently to evaluate jobs/tasks performed in the hangar and at the pad and recommend appropriate PPE, or task modifications to reduce exposure
oPerform safety compliance audits and inventory and coordinate orders for personal protective equipment as needed
oImplement and maintain site specific environmental policies by performing sampling activities for various waste streams (hazardous, wastewater, and storm water) and inspections and monitoring required by NPDES and other discharge permits/plans

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:
o2 years of experience implementing and overseeing environmental, health and safety disciplines
oExperience implementing/developing health and safety plans and policies

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:
oExperience with emergency response crews in incidents involving hazardous and non-hazardous material releases to air, soil, and water
oAble to multi-task, to manage shifting priorities, and to follow through on projects with minimal supervision
oAble to work in a construction/industrial environment
oAble to communicate well with technicians and engineers
oStrong organizational and communication skills
oIntermediate skill level working with Windows Operating Systems
oIntermediate skill level working with Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook)

ADDITIONAL EXPERIENCE:
oGeneral physical fitness is required for some work areas
oAble to move a full drum of waste
oTypically exposed to work in extreme outdoor environments- heat, cold, rain
oWork performed in an environment requiring exposure to fumes, odors, and noise
oTypically 50 hour work weeks, schedule varies depending on site operational needs

EDUCATION:
Accredited High School Diploma/GED

WORK HOURS:
Full-Time
