The basic function of this position is to provide onsite installation, repair, and maintenance support of voice and data systems. The candidate will work with minimum supervision in a dynamic environment to drive the expansion for next-generation networks.
Plans network installations by studying customer orders and technical specifications; ordering and gathering equipment, supplies, materials, and tools, assessing installation site; preparing design recommendations.
Setup pre-configured network equipment; establishes voice and data networks by running, pulling, terminating, and splicing cables; installing telecommunications equipment, routers, switches, multiplexors, cable trays, and alarm and fire-suppression systems following industry standards; activating remote access tools; coordinating with contractors.
Perform installation coordination activities with vendors.
Visit trouble sites and take necessary corrective action to maintain the network by troubleshooting and repairing outages; testing network back-up procedures; updating documentation.
Conducts liaison efforts with outside vendors to order circuits and/or equipment as required.
Maintains customer rapport by listening to and resolving concerns; answering questions.
Performs a variety of electronic and technical assignments on data communications equipment and systems under general supervision. Completes terminal troubleshooting using appropriate diagnostic equipment. Installs terminals, controllers, and test equipment and restores nonworking lines and/or equipment to working condition. Maintains liaison with outside vendors and orders circuits and/or equipment as required. May develop recommendations for the combined usage of data processing and telephone system hardware and software.

AA or other 2 year technical degree in related discipline and 1 year of related experience.
Requires knowledge of specific modems, test equipment, and terminal configuration.
Preferred Qualifications:
Knowledge and experience in network cabling i.e. CAT5 and Fiber Optic.
Experience in racking preconfigured network equipment.
Be able to perform basic continuity, test.
Knowledge of physical network components i.e. switches, routers, T1 terminal equipment, wireless access points.
Should be experienced in office applications such as Microsoft Word and Excel, so as to document work.
Training Certifications a plus.

AA or other 2 year technical degree in related discipline.
