Chipton-Ross is seeking a Payroll Specialist for an opening in Carlsbad, CA.

Payroll Specialists handle a large volume of payroll related activities including running reports in Workday and determining adjustments and/or pay for new hires, terminations, employees on LOA, retroactive pay, and mid-pay period changes; calculating earnings; auditing ADP payroll processing reports; and validating payroll entries including integrations for time worked.
Ensure data input is accurate and validated. Accurately manage integrations and ensure entries are processed timely in alignment with payroll process timeline. Provide accurate and timely control totals that align with the time and labor system. Prompt sign off after all entries is processed. Successfully research and resolve employee/manager and HR inquiries within the service level agreement (SLA). Partner with HR to interpret and implement local benefits and programs that impact payroll. Educate employees and managers on payroll processing to ensure accurate and timely payroll. Review and manage payroll inputs to support accurate payroll and in compliance with SOX and other audit requirements. Ensure understanding and compliance with local and state legislation impacting payroll, such as leave policies, final pay, payout guidelines (PTO, etc.). Support of garnishments and other payroll inquiries. Receive and forward garnishments to ADP support center. Ensure new hire information is accurate in Workday, including personal information such as US address and social security number, as well as the alignment of organizational information. Support escalated Verification of Employment. Respond to escalated Unemployment Claim requests for information.

3+ years of experience in Payroll Associate's degree or equivalent work experience. Experience maintaining confidentiality and working in a deadline-driven environment. Ability to be detail oriented and accurate and have effective communication skills. Strong working experience in system/PC applications (Excel and Word). Excellent customer service skills and strong analytical ability.

Experienced with PayForce and Workday systems is preferred. Associate or Bachelor's degree in accounting. Works with a strong sense of urgency. Experience in a high-volume and fast paced environment. Metrics of Success: Accurate and timely payroll, minimal manual checks processed per month Customer service Alignment of local benefits to standard practices. Manager adherence to timecard approvals. Limited late payroll entries, driving process with HR and manager for timely entries. Minimal disruption for employees and managers during implementations and system upgrades. Minimal adjustments to GL reporting.
