Northrop Grumman Technology Services sector is seeking a Software Developer to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be located in McLean, VA. The qualified applicant will become part of Northrop Grumman's Department of State (DOS) Consular Systems Modernization (CSM) Program, for the Bureau of Consular Affairs (CA). This initiative is intended to modernize and consolidate the operational environment under a common technology framework in order to better support the services provided to CA's customers. As part of the modernization program, the software developer will support development and integration for a large scale predictive analytics platform.
Roles and Responsibilities:
Support the evaluation of existing data and analytics capabilities to support system migration.
Support the development and software integration of an overall data architecture for a predictive analytics platform.
Support standing up and deploying a new data science platform with data loads coming in from internal and external data sources.
Support data science solutions using data acquisition processes and ETL.
Support determination of systems specifications, input/output processes, and working parameters for hardware/software compatibility and maintenance of system security.
Participate in customer planning sessions and project implementations.
Recommends appropriate actions to improve performance, monitoring and tuning systems to achieve optimum user performance and load balancing.
Work within the Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) based team structure and work closely with counterparts within the customer organization.
Bachelor's degree in a related field (computer science) and at least three (3) years' relevant experience.
Experience in systems implementation and Big Data Technologies.
Experience with development of data architectures for large scale systems.
Experience using open source tools for scalable processing such as Apache NiFi, languages such as R, Python, Scala, open source data analytics platforms such as Spark and Hadoop.
Experience using SAP HANA.
Experience in cloud based environments including deploying solutions on public/hybrid clouds.
Experience with data routing and orchestration tools such as Apache NiFi and with in-stream processing tools such as Apache Spark.
Experience with the Apache Hadoop ecosystem, MapR and/or Databricks.
Experience with containerized applications using Docker.
Experience using engineering environments and tools that support agile development, and especially SAFe, such as JIRA, Rally, VersionOne, Confluence.
Bachelor's degree in computer science or a related technical field is required.
