RESPONSIBILITIES:
Northrop Grumman Technology Services sector is seeking a Data Scientist Staff Engineer to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be located in McLean, VA. The qualified applicant will become part of Northrop Grumman's Department of State (DOS) Consular Systems Modernization (CSM) Program, for the Bureau of Consular Affairs (CA). This initiative is intended to modernize and consolidate the operational environment under a common technology framework in order to better support the services provided to CA's customers. As part of the modernization program, the data scientist will support predictive analytics model development and help inform architectural decisions for data science tools supporting an overall enterprise predictive analytics platform.
Roles and Responsibilities:
Support the evaluation of existing data and analytics capabilities.
Support the design and development of predictive analytics models through the implementation, validation and acceptance of the developed models.
Support data triage, extraction, transformation, and loading; perform statistical and qualitative analyses.
Support the design of predictive analytics models using data analytics and machine learning techniques.
Bring in hands-on experience to support designing and building data science solutions to include data acquisition processes and data streaming solutions that scale.
Support the development of architecture and implementation of a large scale data analytics project.
Analyze, define and develop data integration, data curation as needed to support data analytics business requirements.
Design data science solutions; present approach and results; and interface with customers.
Prefer local candidates for Face to Face Interviews.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor's degree and at least 15 years' relevant experience.
At least 10 years' experience in the area of data analytics.
Experience developing predictive modeling algorithms using machine learning and data analytics, and performing statistical analysis.
Experience in implementing predictive analytics solutions using leading data science and machine learning platforms in the industry.
Demonstrated ability programming in Python, R, and/or Scala and experience using open source data analytics platforms such as Spark and Hadoop.
Technical Writing and presentation skills and experience generating technical documents.
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelors, Masters or PhD degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Data Science, Physics or a related field (Computer Sciences).
Experience using SAP HANA.
Implementation and productization of predictive risk models developed using R and Python.
Agile development experience on data analytics projects.
Experience in cloud based environments including deploying solutions on public/hybrid clouds.
Experience creating data analytics visualizations and dashboards using tools such as Tableau or R Shiny.
Experience working within notebook environments such as Jupyter or Zeppelin.
Experience with data routing and orchestration tools such as Apache NiFi and with in-stream processing tools such as Apache Spark.
Experience with MapR and/or Databricks.

EDUCATION:
Bachelor's degree is required. Bachelor's, Master's or PhD degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Data Science, Physics or a related field (Computer Sciences) is preferred.
