Northrop Grumman Technology Services sector is seeking a Database Administrator (DBA)/Engineer to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be located in McLean, VA. The qualified applicant will become part of Northrop Grumman's Department of State (DOS) Consular Systems Modernization (CSM) Program, for the Bureau of Consular Affairs (CA). This initiative is intended to modernize and consolidate the operational environment under a common technology framework in order to better support the services provided to CA's customers. During the initial program transition period, the DBA will be responsible for reviewing incoming CA databases/applications to gain understanding of technical requirements, architecture of the system, data model, interfaces and applications. After the transition in period, the DBA will support sustainment activities as part of the Shared Services team.
Roles and Responsibilities:
o Support existing Consular Affairs applications and supporting databases, including working with the customer to obtain and maintain the tools and services necessary to support current functionalities and associated interfaces
o Troubleshoot issues in existing Oracle and Microsoft SQL databases
o Participate in installation/configuration of new databases and instances
o Evaluate and apply patches and updates
o Create/maintain system documentation
o Investigate/institute database enhancements to improve the reliability, maintainability, and performance of the system
o Participate in requirements management, system modeling, configuration management, and other systems engineering activities as appropriate
Prefer local candidates for face to face interviews.
o Bachelor's degree in a related field and 6 years' relevant experience.
o At least 5 years of experience supporting Oracle and/or Microsoft SQL databases in a production environment.
o Hands on experience in database configuration and optimization.
o Hands on experience evaluating and installing of patches/security updates.
o Experience working in agile development environments.
o Experience maintaining Oracle Siebel CRM products.
o Experience maintaining other Oracle products including Oracle SOA Suite, CA API Gateway, and Oracle Fusion Middleware.
o Knowledge of Federal Information Security Management Act (FISMA) security guidelines.
o Experience supporting system development, integration and test.
o Knowledge of software development methodologies, practices, and tools.
o Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
Bachelor's Degree in a Computer Science or related field is required.
