Chipton-Ross is seeking a Planner/Scheduler for a contract opportunity in Carson, CA

Job Summary:
Plans and prepares production materials, travelers, and work orders. Evaluates shortages and notifies of any potential problem if required. Acts as a key member of the Repair Station and Manufacturing teams by ensuring material flow and schedule adherence in a collaborative, ERP-driven environment.

Duties:
On a daily basis reviews material availability in ERP/MRP system to plan actions in support of production releases to MPS schedule; Responsible for reviewing requirements for production's master schedule (12 weeks out) and reviewing current forecast for corresponding items; Plans, prepares, issues, and controls production orders and material requirements to ensure a controlled flow of approved materials and production orders to meet production requirements; Reviews shortages in existing backlogs and advises management when on-time order delivery is in jeopardy; Confirms and releases work orders including verification of material availability and reissuance of materials based on unexpected yield variances; Prepares and issues production paperwork, revises and reschedules shop orders in LN when necessary; Works with Production Supervisor on a daily basis to monitor status and scheduling in order to obtain on-time delivery of products; Coordinates with production any changes to schedules; Directs or instructs expeditor of products that are required to be sent to finished goods shipment or require follow-up; Reviews procured items and releases expedite requests to Purchasing if material is urgently needed;
Coordinates sub-contracted orders and creates all required paperwork; Requests physical counts of raw material and work in process (WIP) inventory, identifying and solving inventory variances;
Works with all teams involved to ensure timely assessment of failed product in incoming inspection or production inspection and addresses any planning-related issues;
Works with department personnel including Material Handlers, Production, and Buyers to resolve material availability issues as they arise; Works with Warehouse to expedite release of items to the production floor;
Reviews and takes actions requested from MRB findings and squawks; Works with Development Planning group to support any required actions related to new Engineering Drawings or Design Changes;
Inputs data into various systems and creates/prepares reports for production planning or customer meetings;
Collaborates with cross-functional teams including Procurement, Manufacturing Engineering, Quality, and Customer Service Representatives (CSRs) to provide status updates, quote lead times, and resolve planning issues;
Participates in daily and weekly meetings to discuss schedules, material shortages, and repair priorities;
Supports after-market and MRO sales by managing inter-company material transfers and schedule coordination.

Experience:
1-3 years of experience in production planning required.
o Entry level job with little or no prior relevant work experience
o Acquires basic skills to perform routine tasks
o Work is prescribed and completed with little autonomy
o Works with either close supervision or under clearly defined procedures

Education:
College degree is preferred (Preferably in Supply Chain Management or a related field) or comparable experience.

Other Skills:
Windows Operating system and Microsoft Office proficiency is required;
Knowledge in Drawing Applications and the ability to understand technical drawings is required;
Solid understanding of Production Planning and Scheduling best practices and principles is required;
Thorough understanding of operational concepts related to MRO planning, inventory control, purchasing, stockroom operations, and shipping/receiving;
Ability to organize and prioritize multiple tasks and take initiative;
Ability to direct and lead cross-functional process improvement teams;
Strong oral, written, and analytical communication skills;
Computer literate, ERP-savvy, and highly team-oriented;
Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively with colleagues, buyers, warehouse personnel, and technicians across departments.

Work Schedule
1st Shift, M-F 6am to 2:30pm

Employment will be contingent on clearing a drug screen and background check. Both must clear prior to start date.
