Chipton-Ross is seeking a Structural Engineer 3 for a contract opportunity in Newport News, VA.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS (REQUIRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE):
ABET Engineering degree required. 5 Years with Bachelors in Science; 3 Years with Masters; 0 Years with PhD.
***Confidential Clearance Required** ** Candidate without an active clearance will be considered, but must be eligible to obtain clearance upon hire**
o Candidate should have structural engineering experience to include performing structural evaluations, conducting building assessments, performing code review/interpretations and responding to emergent safety related issues in a fast paced, large industrial facility setting.
o Assist with performing unplanned event investigations and performing root cause analysis
o Have project management, communication, organizational and computer skills.
o Critical/Analytical Thinking o Communication o Time Management
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
Analyzes, researches and develops structural engineering specifications involving metals, non-metallic or composite structural materials for product design, or operation of product to include structures, mechanical, hydraulic, electrical and electronics, power plant, armament, heating and ventilating, equipment and maintenance designs. Analyzes damage tolerance, durability, design allowable and structural modeling. Specific structural engineering specialties may include dynamics and loads, stability and stress fatigue and thermal analysis. Tools utilized may include CATIA, IDEAS, ProEngineer and a variety of software applications.
REQUIRED EDUCATION:
ABET Engineering degree required.
School must be accredited.
WORK HOURS:
5/40 workweek. First Shift 7:30AM-4:00 PM.

Employment will be contingent on clearing a drug screen and background check. Both must clear prior to start date.
