Description

Chipton-Ross is seeking a Systems Administrator 3 - Splunk Systems Administrator for a contract/hybrid position in Newport News, VA.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS (REQUIRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE):
6 Years relevant experience with Bachelors; 4 Years relevant experience with Masters; An additional 4 years of specific job experience with a HS diploma may be substituted for the Bachelor's degree requirement for this job. This experience is in addition to the relevant years of experience listed with the job's education requirements. Example: If this job required a Bachelor's degree + 5 years relevant experience the equivalency would equal HS diploma + 9 years job related experience.
o Experience with Linux and Windows environments
o Experience with interacting with customers configuration and optimization in Splunk
o Experience with using scripting languages to automate tasks and manipulate data
o Strong expertise understanding architecture and ability to create, modify, troubleshoot data queries through various data sources
o Knowledge of enterprise logging, including application, OS, and security technology logging
o Experience with network security, system security, and supporting security information and event management (SIEM)
o Experience with infrastructure management and support and system administration in Windows and UNIX environments
o Experience with security tools, including Firewall, IDS, and Active Directory
o Splunk Administrator Certification

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
Maintains smooth operation of multi-user computer systems, including coordination with network administrators. Duties may include setting up administrator and service accounts, maintaining system documentation, tuning system performance, installing system wide software and allocate mass storage space. Interacts with users and evaluates vendor products. Makes recommendations to purchase hardware and software, coordinates installation and provides backup recovery. Develops and monitors policies and standards for allocation related to the use of computing resources.
REQUIRED EDUCATION:
6 Years with Bachelors; 4 Years with Masters
Equivalency: Bachelor's Degree and 6 years of experience. Master's Degree and 4 years of experience. 4 years of related exempt experience can be substituted for Bachelor's degree. 8 years of non-related exempt experience can be substituted for Bachelor's degree. A relevant professional certification can be substituted for a Bachelor's Degree. Education must be accredited.

WORK HOURS:
Full-Time First Shift 7:30 AM - 4:00 PM
HYBRID, In office Tues/Thurs.
**Active Secret Clearance Required**

Employment will be contingent on clearing a drug screen and background check. Both must clear prior to start date.
