Chipton-Ross is seeking a Electromagnetic Test & Evaluation Engineer (Level 3) for a contract opportunity in Huntsville, AL.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS (REQUIRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE):
Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science
1+ years of hands-on hardware (lab environment) experience with electromagnetics
1+ years of experience with RF systems or coursework in RF theory
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES
This position involves working with an experienced, interdisciplinary and multi-organizational team to create innovative solutions to meet unique and challenging requirements in a laboratory environment. Client's state-of-the-art Dynamic Advanced Radar Test (DART) facility is a full hardware-in-the-loop simulation capability for the development, verification, and sustainment of radar missile seekers. Using the world's largest missile seeker positioner, test articles are moved through a realistic motion profile while targets and countermeasures, generated by digital RF memories (DRFMs), provide highly realistic radar reflections. A spatial target array is then used to electronically position emissions from different points in space completing this highly realistic laboratory environment. The DART incorporates a wide variety of specialized equipment combining real-time software, LabView interfaces, RF systems, and complex FPGA designs. This role will require strong collaboration skills to work seamlessly with an interdisciplinary and multi-organizational team to complete a test program that meets customer requirements. Must have organizational skills and adaptability to work in a fast-paced and continually changing environment. Duties may include (but are not limited to):
Develop and validate requirements for various electromagnetic test systems and components
Develop hardware and software architectures to integrate systems and components into higher level systems and platforms
Perform trade studies, modeling, simulation and other forms of analysis to predict component and system performance and to optimize design around established requirements
Define and conduct tests to validate performance of customer design requirements
Provide support to products throughout their lifecycle by developing root-cause analysis of anomalies and other engineering support as requested
Independently operate test procedures
Coordinate with internal and external customers to satisfy specific test needs
Solve technical anomalies, seeks to improve existing processes, and communicates complex ideas with teammates and customers
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS (DESIRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE):
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Physics
Radar/RF component or system hardware experience
Radar/RF Test Equipment operation (e.g. Oscilloscope, Spectrum Analyzer, Vector Network Analyzer)
Familiarity with Digital Signal Processing (DSP)
Familiarity with Field-Programmable Gated Array (FPGA) logic design
Familiarity with Linux operating systems
Experience with embedded programming and debugging
Experience with key software packages (e.g. LabVIEW, MATLAB, C++, Python)
REQUIRED EDUCATION
Minimum of a Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor's and 5 or more years' experience, Master's degree with 3 or more years' experience or PhD degree with experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
