Chipton-Ross is seeking an IT Asset Management Analyst 3 - SAM Specialist for a contract\hybrid opportunity in Newport News, VA.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS (REQUIRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE):
o Bachelor Degree in Information Technology, Business Administration, or a related field with 5 years of relevant professional experience. 2 years of relevant experience with a Master's degree.
o Expert Knowledge of software licensing terms and conditions and the application of those terms to the demand and usage within a physical and virtual environment.
o Experience with Altiris, SmartTrack, HP Asset Management, SAM Pro, or other IT Asset Management systems
o Understanding of licensing impact on IT Data Center, Server and Cloud Infrastructure, and On-Prem Vmware Virtualization environments.
o Expert knowledge of product use rights for publishers such as Oracle, Microsoft, Adobe, SAP, IBM, etc.
o Advanced Excel, and analytical reporting skills.
o Organized, responsive, and thorough problem solver.
o Ability to function in a dynamic work environment and able to multi-task and work both independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision.
The candidate must have excellent analytical skills, as well as expert knowledge of software license metrics, product use rights, and preferred experience with a SAM tool such as USU License Management or Service Now SAM Pro.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
Establishes and implements hardware and software acquisition, protection, maintenance and retention policies, standards and procedures that are aligned with IT standards and strategy. Investigates available hardware and software products; evaluates and recommends products based on user requirements. Coordinates with the procurement function to interview, select and negotiate with hardware and software vendors in order to purchase the appropriate equipment at the lowest cost. Reviews licenses and/or contracts to ensure that hardware and software equipment is covered by the contract and properly documented.
Software Asset Management Specialist
The HII Software Asset Management (SAM) Specialist is responsible for ensuring effective management of software licenses, compliance, and vendor relationships within the Vendor Management organization. The position involves collaboration with various internal and external teams in regards to tracking software assets, maintaining compliance, and implementing best practices for software asset management, including procedures for tracking assets within a Software Asset Management tool. The individual will assist in forming procurement strategies that optimize technology spend across the organization.
The position establishes and implements software acquisition, protection, maintenance and renewal standards and processes. Investigates available software products; evaluates and recommends products based on user requirements. Coordinates with the procurement function to interview, select and negotiate with software vendors in order to purchase the appropriate equipment at the lowest cost. Reviews licenses and/or contracts to ensure that software is covered by the contract and properly documented.
Responsibilities:
o Analyze the company's software asset data and create reports that drive compliance, cost savings, cost avoidance, and harvesting strategies.
o Reconcile license entitlements with discovered installations or demand data to determine effective license positions.
o Analyze software usage reports and recommend remediation plans for underutilized or over utilized non-compliant positions.
o Develop, or evaluate existing best practice strategies around acquisition, deployment, and retirement of software assets by recommending and creating policies, processes, and procedures to support end-to-end software asset lifecycle management.
o Maintain an up-to-date inventory of all software assets within the organization, including versions and installations for each application.
o Have specialized knowledge of key vendors such as Microsoft, Oracle, SAP, IBM, Vmware, Adobe and other high value vendors used by HII.
o Conduct regular self-audits and annual True Ups to reconcile license entitlements and direct remediation efforts to limit exposure.
o Manage and address audits in accordance with the company's timelines and labor resources, including analysis, reporting, and documentation to support both HII and the vendor's request, while ensuring HII's best interest and outcome.
o Use the company's SAM tools to develop dashboards and ongoing compliance reporting on core software vendors such as Microsoft, Adobe, and others.
o Support Hardware Asset Management team as needed (i.e. tracking, compliance, procedures, and best practices).

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS (DESIRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE):
o IAITAM or CSAM certification a plus.

REQUIRED EDUCATION:
Bachelor Degree in Information Technology, Business Administration, or a related field is required.
School must be accredited.

WORK HOURS:
Full-Time 5/40 workweek. First Shift 7:30 AM - 4:00 PM. Hybrid position.
