Description


Chipton-Ross is seeking a Quality Technician for a contract opportunity in Forest, OH.

Responsibilities:
" Conduct testing of liquids in processing tanks, including conversion coat, copper sulfite, pickle & passivation, De-Ionized water, quench and leak test tanks. Read flushing patches to quantify microscopic debris. Conduct tensile testing, salt spray testing, conversion coat and paint adhesion coupon testing; oil flash testing; Temperature Uniformity Surveys & System Accuracy Test on braze ovens; metallurgy, pH, NaF and LiCl testing for salt brazing; and other testing required by the Quality Assurance department.
" Prepare chemical mixtures as needed for Iridite, Isoprep, Keller, Lepito, Marble, Zyglo, Copper Sulfate, etc.
" Take samples and test levels for various manufacturing and inspection processes including argon gas (temperature, dewpoint ); cold storage temperatures; eutectic melting; high temperature oxidation; Cleanline liquid content; oil viscosity in test stands and other sampling as needed.
" Manage the calibration of: chemical test equipment (e.g. anodize testers, pH meters); electronic equipment (e.g. AC power supplies, conductivity meters, spectrophotometers); environmental test equipment (e.g. dewpoint sensors, humidity and temperature sensors); Fluorescent Penetrant Inspection equipment (e.g. Accumax meters, Gould Bass meters); hydraulic & pneumatic equipment (e.g. viscometers, flow meters, manometers); mechanical equipment (e.g. torque analyzers, scales, salt spray booth); and radiographic equipment (e.g. survey meters, X-Ray templates etc.)- See Quality Manager for a complete list. Document and maintain data resulting from calibrations. Manage the location and due dates of all assigned gages and equipment. Ensure the calibration of all assigned gages and equipment before due dates. Mark assigned gages and equipment with identification information, dates of last calibration and due dates. Schedule contracted calibrations with suppliers. Verify contracted calibrations are complete by reviewing calibration reports for accuracy and completion; and traceability to the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST).
" Work with Design, Quality and Manufacturing Engineering to move new products through qualification and into production by assisting in the resolution of issues that arise with production processes and when performing field failure investigations.
" Other technical functions as required, including review of supplier certifications for compliance to technical specifications; and Manufacturing Specification Data Sheets (MSDS).
" Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops and formal education as required; reviewing publications, establishing industry networks, benchmarking state-of-the-art practices, and maintaining required certifications.
" Share specialized knowledge with others. Represent the company on specific projects. Mentor new employees. Contribute to team efforts by accomplishing related results as needed. Work assignments may include cross-functional or project team responsibilities (e.g. continuous improvement and High Performance Teams).

Qualifications:
" High School graduate with a minimum of two (2) years' experience working with hand tools in a "mechanical" laboratory setting.
" Associates degree in Engineering Technology preferred, or equivalent experience

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
" Knowledge of mechanical and lab testing methods, principals and concepts and general manufacturing operations.
" Ability to read, analyze and interpret engineering drawings and specifications; equipment operating instructions; technical reports and schematics; and apply them to equipment to achieve intended results.
" Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.
" General knowledge of applicable safe operating procedures and Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) regulations.
" Ability to use standard business software applications and specialized data analysis tools.
" Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as proportions, percentages and unit conversions.
" Ability to interpret a broad variety of technical instructions in mathematical and diagrammatic forms that include several abstract and concrete variables.
" Ability to research and analyze data and develop recommendations or resolve problems by drawing on internal information and referring to prior decisions.
" Ability to work on a variety of problems of moderate scope and complexity where analysis of the situation or data requires thorough identification of factors and analysis of impact.
" Ability to work within work objectives regarding projects and team goals.
" Ability to effectively communicate and present information to team members, team leaders and management in oral and written formats.
" Ability to select procedures and techniques to apply to work to meet specified priorities and order of assignments.
" Ability to effectively demonstrate team member competencies and participate in goal-setting, performance feedback, and self-development activities.

Work Schedule
1st Shift, 5/40 Schedule
Note: This individual will be trained on 3rd shift to start but ideally this position is a 1st shift job. Expect to be on 3rd shift for a couple of weeks until training is completed.

Employment will be contingent on clearing a drug screen and background check. Both must clear prior to start date.
