Chipton-Ross is seeking multiple Health and Safety Analyst 1's for a contract opportunity in Newport News, VA.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS (REQUIRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE):
0 years with Bachelor of Science degree in related field.
Accountable, Dependable, and proficient communication skills.
Required PPE Ear Muffs, Face mask, Hard Hat, Safety Glasses, Steel Toe Boots.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
Identifies hazardous workplace conditions and takes preliminary samples and measurements of hazardous forces and toxic substances, removes hazards and/or protects employees by guarding, revising work procedures, and training or requiring use of protective clothing and personal protective equipment. Takes effective steps to ensure that workplace conditions comply with applicable federal and state occupational safety and health standard provisions of any labor agreement, ensuring that all required records are prepared and maintained. Participates in Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) inspections and in any procedures that may follow a citation. Investigates, prepares, and forwards as required reports on injuries and fatalities. Conducts safe work procedures training courses.
o Identify processes which generate specific H&S hazards.
o Review and interpret and apply OSHA regulations, as well as NNS H&s policies and procedures.
o Serves as a team member providing direct H&S support to a product line, Operations, or general programmatic support to the entire shipyard and other sector sites.
o Serves as EH&S Department subject matter expert (SME) for 1-2 different subjects (machine guarding, electrical, etc.).
o Facilitates EH&S task team organization and activities in assigned areas. Liaison for task team to appropriate management when necessary. Seeks team leader input as appropriate for addressing initiatives with senior level management.
o Enforces H&S rules and requirements. Writes Safety - Health Observation Reports (SHOR's) when violations of safety rules are observed.
o Investigates serious and lost-time accidents. Secures the physical area of the accident. Locates and interviews witnesses. Collects, or directs the collection of physical evidence and may take photographs of the scene. Prepares accident reports as directed by the Team Leader; determines the cause and recommends corrective action to prevent reoccurrences. Reviews supervisor's accident reports for appropriate analysis and actions taken. Reports can be used in workers' compensation law suits.
o · Performs walk-through inspections of assigned area. Observes employees and work areas for violations. Corrects serious problems on-the-spot or red tags the area and stops work until corrected. Performs detailed physical inspections of areas or machines based on employee complaints.
o Participates in special inspections and audits at NGNN and sector sites; implements improvements related to the guidelines for these inspections.
o May participate in sampling for physical and chemical hazards such as noise, heat stress, oxygen deficiency, flammability, or toxicity using approved field analysis techniques. Documents observations and sampling procedures.


REQUIRED EDUCATION:
Bachelors of Science Degree required.
School must be accredited.

WORK HOURS:
5/40. Monday - Friday, First Shift 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM

Employment will be contingent on clearing a drug screen and background check. Both must clear prior to start date.
