Chipton-Ross is seeking a Sr Specialist Mechanical Engineer for a contract opportunity in Tulsa, OK.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS (REQUIRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE):
4 + years experience using 3-D CAD software tools in design function, SolidWorks and Inventor/AutoCAD, or equivalent modeling software (solid modeler) experience a must.
2+ years of experience in military and/or industry specifications and standards pertaining to design, testing, hardware, material, and processes.
2+ years of experience in Commercial/Navy/Military Specifications for environmental qualification testing.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
This position is responsible for general mechanical engineering, structural and thermal analysis of power distribution switchboards , load centers, and power distribution panels for Navy shipboard-based systems. Knowledge of mechanical layout and packaging of such systems is necessary. Given the system complexity, the associated responsibilities and assignments require the exercise of considerable initiative, planning, and independent judgment. The candidate shall demonstrate technical acuity which encompasses interpretation of specifications/requirements and resolution of complex mechanical design and analysis problems. Shall be able to lead mechanical engineering design efforts on a project.
Essential Functions:
Reviews and interprets specifications and requirements to determine structural, thermal and safety critical characteristics/considerations for the mechanical designs.
Prepares material and labor cost estimates for proposed designs and proposals.
Designs specified systems and components.
Produces professional technical documentation including: 2D drawings from 3D models, reports, analyses, white papers, procedures, and processes necessary to meet contractual requirements and necessary to produce both qualification and production hardware and equipment.
Works directly with all engineering supporting disciplines from concept through final product design, validation, qualification, and production.
Responsible for project budget/schedule adherence for assigned tasks.
Will be responsible for all aspects of mechanical design and analysis. These efforts include thermal analysis, structural analysis, electrical and electronics packaging, and mechanical concepts, for new and updated products.
Coordinates and reviews the work of the program design team, provides direction for design and analysis details, and supports the preparation of mechanical drawings.
Supports manufacturing build and qualification testing requirements, including troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and implementing design improvements.
Reviews and approves project documentation, change requests, etc. and ensures appropriate documentation on projects.
Processes and manages new/design changes on assigned projects using PLM system.
Interfaces with customers, vendors, and production to develop product requirements and solutions.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS (DESIRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE):
Experience working with Power Distribution Switchboard or similar low/medium-voltage/high-power type equipment
Experience with structural analysis software ANSYS Workbench [preferred] or equivalent. The candidate must be familiar with software modules for static, dynamic, and modal analysis.
Skilled in design of shock and vibration mitigation for electrical enclosures
Demonstrated ability to lead and execute own tasks with minimal guidance
Experience with additive manufacturing materials and techniques [preferred]
Ability to lead others in design team and execute tasks on-time and on-budget
Excellent technical writing skills demonstrated through authorship of technical documentation such as design reports, test procedures, etc.
Good written and oral communication skills.
REQUIRED EDUCATION:
Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering with minimum 5 years of prior related experience. Or Master of Science degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering with minimum 3 years of prior relevant experience. Must have experience and/or training in mechanical engineering.
Or in lieu of a degree, minimum of 8 years of prior related experience.
**Education MUST be accredited**
WORK HOURS:
9/80-1st Shift.
ADDITIONAL:
Ability to obtain a secret clearance is required.
Employment will be contingent on clearing a drug screen and background check. Both must clear prior to start date.
