Chipton-Ross is seeking multiple Health and Safety Analyst 2's for a contract opportunity in Newport News, VA.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS (REQUIRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE):
2 Years with Bachelor of Science degree in an Occupational Safety, Physical Science, Life Science, or Engineering field; 0 years of relevant professional experience with a Master's Degree
• Associate Safety Professional (ASP), or Graduate Safety Professional (GSP) preferred.
• Previous experience with shipbuilding, construction or industrial industry.
• Previous experience interpreting and enforcing legal standards.
• Ability to concisely document findings, interpret and enforce legal standards in maritime and construction industry.
• Ability to work independently in fast paced work environment.
• Ability to document events into a brief narrative with understanding of causal relationship
• Ability to maneuver to all parts of a ship environment to include confined spaces wearing personal protective equipment, such as hard hat, safety glasses, steel toes shoes, hearing protection, fall protection, respirator, etc.
Required PPE: hard hat, steel toed shores, safety glasses, hearing protection, fall protection, respirator, etc.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
Identifies hazardous workplace conditions and takes preliminary samples and measurements of hazardous forces and toxic substances, removes hazards and/or protects employees by guarding, revising work procedures, and training or requiring use of protective clothing and personal protective equipment. Takes effective steps to ensure that workplace conditions comply with applicable federal and state occupational safety and health standard provisions of any labor agreement, ensuring that all required records are prepared and maintained. Participates in Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) inspections and in any procedures that may follow a citation. Investigates, prepares, and forwards as required reports on injuries and fatalities. Conducts safe work procedures training courses.
REQUIRED EDUCATION:
Bachelors of Science Degree required.
School must be accredited.
WORK HOURS:
5/40. Monday - Friday, First Shift 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM
Employment will be contingent on clearing a drug screen and background check. Both must clear prior to start date.
