Chipton-Ross is seeking a Structural Engineer 2 for a contract opportunity in Newport News, VA.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS (REQUIRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE):

2 Years with Bachelors in Science; 0 Years with Masters- Newport News Shipbuilding requires a Bachelor's Degree in engineering from an ABET accredited program. Microsoft Office Suite or Similar experience is required. Candidate should have sufficient structural or civil engineering experience to include performing structural evaluations, conducting building assessments in a large industrial facility setting. Performs project management methodologies to implement assigned facilities projects. Responsibilities include creating and updates to project schedules to portray timeline of each project stage, for safety, quality, cost, schedule, and customer satisfaction of assigned projects. Communicates and coordinates with customers, contractors, and upper management constantly throughout the project process. Inspects and verifies construction and installation progress adheres to established engineering drawings, specifications, and codes. Performs project closeout to ensure retention of project documents for future use and the sustainability and maintenance of the facility. Additional areas of responsibility include and are not limited to: oReviews and estimates design and construction costs including equipment, installation, labor, materials, preparation, and other related costs. Inspects or directs the inspection of construction and installation progress to ensure conformance to established drawings, specifications, budget and schedules. o Strong project management, communication, organizational and computer skills are essential. o Ability to work independently and be a part of cross-functional teams in accomplishment of complex tasks. o Ability to recognize and address technical, quality, and business aspects of a project is essential to successfully executing assigned projects. o Efficient and effective time management skills to execute multiple projects at different phases of the Project Implementation Process. Finance background, ability to multitask, and Microsoft Excel. PPE: Hard Hat, Safety Glasses, Steel Toed Shoes, All Purpose Grip Gloves

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:

Analyzes, researches and develops structural engineering specifications involving metals, non-metallic or composite structural materials for product design, or operation of product to include structures, mechanical, hydraulic, electrical and electronics, power plant, armament, heating and ventilating, equipment and maintenance designs. Analyzes damage tolerance, durability, design allowables and structural modeling. Specific structural engineering specialties may include dynamics and loads, stability and stress fatigue and thermal analysis. Tools utilized may include CATIA, IDEAS, ProEngineer and a variety of software applications.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS (DESIRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE:

Project Management Experience and Relative Software preferred but not required.

REQUIRED EDUCATION:

ABET Engineering degree required. School must be accredited.

WORK HOURS:

5/40 workweek. First Shift 7:00AM-3:30 PM.


Employment will be contingent on clearing a drug screen and background check. Both must clear prior to start date.
