Chipton-Ross is seeking a Facilities Controls Engineer (Level 2) for a contract opportunity in Charleston, SC.



BASIC QUALIFICATIONS (REQUIRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE):

  • Bachelor, Master, or Doctor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics or Chemistry.
  • 4 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 2+ years experience supporting, troubleshooting or administrating Building Automation Systems (BAS), Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) systems, and/or industrial lighting controls.
  • 2+ years experience working in an engineering, facilities and/or maintenance role in an industrial or manufacturing environment.
  • Successful completion of training is a contingency for this assignment - OJT or formal classroom training
  • POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:

    In this role, you will support building automation systems, facilities mechanical & electrical systems, facilities & equipment maintenance teams, reliability engineering, building modifications and new construction to enable the 787 Dreamliner program. This role involves guiding reactive equipment repairs (hands on), supporting planning and construction projects (requirements definition and project oversight), and exploring opportunities to improve site infrastructure. An ideal candidate will have control systems knowledge and experience related to Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA), Building Automation Systems (BAS), industrial HVAC, compressed air systems, paint booth operations, industrial & office lighting systems. Duties may include (but are not limited to):
  • Administrates and troubleshoots Building Automation Systems including physical components, servers, software, and network communications.
  • Provides support for buildings, infrastructure equipment installations and utility systems. Includes central utility distribution sites and self-contained buildings.
  • Determines the cause of asset failures and reduction in asset capacity by using reliability tools and methods (e.g., life cycle analysis, condition-based maintenance, root cause failure methodology, mean time between failures, fault tree analysis, etc.)
  • Analyzes current conditions and future requirements to recommend infrastructure capital improvements and works with both internal and external customers to identify and assess alternatives and impacts.
  • Translates customer requirements into design options with documents and estimates. Identifies appropriate materials, equipment, and services by applying engineering principles and methodology.
  • Participates in conceptual design by analyzing intended use/occupancy and desired aesthetics, code research, and development of preliminary design elements.
  • Estimates resource requirements, identifies materials, equipment, and services to establish project scope.
  • Uses appropriate resources to produce project drawings, specifications, and permit application packages in accordance with project parameters.
  • Aligns designs with customer requirements, building codes and applicable laws by applying knowledge of construction principles, practices, and materials.
  • Supports construction projects by reviewing contractor proposals; works with government/regulatory agencies; monitors project progress and vendor/consultant performance.
  • Ensures accuracy of drawing archives/libraries by reviewing contractor redlines and as-builts.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS (DESIRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE:

  • 2+ years experience troubleshooting, programming or utilizing TRANE, Honeywell, or Johnson Controls Building Automation Systems.
  • 2+ years experience with nLight and/or Payne Sparkman control systems.
  • Proficiency with Bluebeam, AutoCAD and Revit software.
  • Experience with reactive maintenance for building mechanical and electrical systems.
  • REQUIRED EDUCATION:

    Minimum of a Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor's degree and typically 2 or more years' experience in an engineering classification or a Master's degree with experience in an engineering classification). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

    WORK HOURS:

    FULL TIME/FIRST SHIFT; 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM


    Employment will be contingent on clearing a drug screen and background check. Both must clear prior to start date.
