Chipton-Ross is seeking 3 Fabrication Specialists (Level B) for a contract opportunity in New Orleans, LA.



BASIC QUALIFICATIONS (REQUIRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE):

- Minimum of 3 years operates specialized Friction Stir Welding machinery - Experience working with welding tools - Understanding the welding process and ability to work along side engineers and other team units

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:

Performs machine set-up, machining, welding set-up, welding, sheet metal fabrication and extrusion, tube bending and fabrication tasks. Performs composite lay-up, fabrication and assembly tasks. Assembles precision mechanical and electro-mechanical components. Assembles, repairs, modifies and installs various power plants and drive trains. Perform soldering on electronic and avionics products. Assembles and installs wire harnesses and avionics products. Prepares test articles, fixtures and data collection devices to perform various tests. Performs basic organic chemical conversion and paint preparation. Applies routine organic coatings for corrosion protection and appearance requirements. Works on articles of limited complexity following established drawings and requirements. The selected candidate must have a minimum of 3 years operates specialized Friction Stir Welding (FSW) machinery to join metal parts using a solid-state process, prepares materials, inspects welds for quality, performs routine machine maintenance, and utilizes precision measuring tools. This role requires knowledge of welding and preparation, a strong understanding of metallurgy, and the ability to collaborate with engineers on process development and problem-solving to ensure high-quality, strong bonds for industries for aerospace. These resources will go through specialized training (anywhere from 3-4 weeks) to get them trained on the SLS process and tools. They will need to be comfortable with heights. All PPE, other than prescription safety glasses, will be provided.

REQUIRED EDUCATION High school diploma or GED and typically 1 or more years’ related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

WORK HOURS FULL TIME/FIRST SHIFT; 6:00 AM - 2:00 PM. Further down the line once they are trained they can possibly move to 2nd 2 PM-10:30 PM. This shift move would not be permanent, just a flexible schedule based on work needs and availability.

ADDITIONAL This work assignment has been designated as "safety-sensitive" by the Client. Contractors assigned to safety-sensitive jobs at the Client site must first complete regulatory pre-placement requirements prior to reporting to assignment. Additionally, contractors assigned to safety-sensitive work will be subject to random drug and alcohol testing in accordance with federal mandates.


Employment will be contingent on clearing a drug screen and background check. Both must clear prior to start date.
