Chipton-Ross is seeking 2 Composites M&P (Materials and Processes) Engineers (Level 2) for a contract opportunity in Mesa, AZ.



BASIC QUALIFICATIONS (REQUIRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE):

  • Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science. (And a Bachelor’s degree and 2+ years’ experience or a Master’s degree.
  • Willingness to work 2nd shift.

  • Apply chemistry, physics, and material science to develop and qualify composite materials and processing methods
  • Provide technical evaluation and material and process support to composite part fabrication
  • Perform root-cause investigations and implement corrective & preventive actions for material and process issues
  • Create and execute test plans, write reports and input to specifications for materials, tools, and processes
  • Qualify and approve equipment, materials and processes
  • Guide material testing in the Materials & Processes Laboratory
  • Coordinate with other disciplines such as Design Engineering, Production Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality Engineering, and Procurement
  • Travel to suppliers as needed
  • Integrate new technologies and promote standardization across product lines
  • Manage test/audit programs, ensure regulatory and contractual compliance, and incorporate EHS, LEAN, and Quality principles into your work
  • PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS (DESIRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE:

  • 1+ years working with composites, elastomers, and associated processing techniques (Level 2 or 3 applies based on years of experience)
  • Hands-on lab experience with polymer chemistry analytical techniques
  • Familiarity with materials such as epoxy, cyanate ester, bismaleimide, urethane, polyimide, reinforcements, and adhesives
  • Experience with composite failure modes (structural and nonstructural) and failure analysis.
  • Experience in technical specifications, reports, and test plans
  • Comfortable reading engineering drawings and using Microsoft Office
  • Experience in creating and delivering technical presentations and briefings
  • Ability to work in a collaborative team-based environment
  • REQUIRED EDUCATION Minimum of a Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science. (e.g. Bachelor’s degree and 2+ years’ experience or a Master’s degree. In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

    TRAVEL Slight chance of domestic travel.

    WORK HOURS FULL TIME/SECOND SHIFT; 1:00 PM - 10:30 PM

    Employment will be contingent on clearing a drug screen and background check. Both must clear prior to start date.
