Chipton-Ross is seeking 2 Tool & Die Makers for a contract opportunity in San Antonio, TX.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS (REQUIRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE):
- 5+ years of experience as a Machinist or Tool Maker
- 5+ years of experience operating manual mill and manual lathe machines
- 5+ years of experience reading and understanding engineering drawings, blueprints, schematics, and specifications
- 5+ years of experience working with precision measuring tools
- Ability to work variable shifts (i.e. scheduled and unscheduled overtime; weekends and holidays) to support mission requirements and workload
- Regular and predictable attendance is a requirement of this request.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Tool and Die Maker constructs and repairs jigs, fixtures, cutting tools, gauges, or metal dies or molds used in shaping or forming metal or nonmetallic material (e.g., plastic, plaster, rubber, glass). Work typically involves: planning and laying out work according to models, blueprints, drawings, or other written or oral specifications, understanding the working properties of common metals and alloys, selecting appropriate materials, tools, and processes required to complete task, making necessary shop computations, and setting up and operating various machine tools and related equipment. Work for someone in this position also involves using various Tool and Die Maker's hand tools and precision measuring instrument, working to very close tolerances, heat-treating metal parts and finished tools and dies to achieve required qualities, and fitting and assembling parts to prescribed tolerances and allowances. In general, the Tool and Die Maker's work requires rounded training in machine shop and tool room practice usually acquired through formal apprenticeship or equivalent training and experience. Duties may include (but are not limited to):
- Fabricate, repair, and maintain various tools, dies, and fixtures used in the manufacturing process
- Interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and specifications to create precise tooling components
- Operate manual machining equipment, such as lathes, milling machines, and grinders
- Utilize measuring instruments, both in the shop and out on the aircraft, to ensure accuracy and quality of work
- Collaborate with engineers and other team members to develop innovative solutions for tooling needs
- Perform inspections and quality checks to ensure compliance with specifications and standards
- Assist with aircraft structures III work, including assembly, installation, and repair tasks as needed
- Fabrication of aircraft parts
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS (DESIRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE:
- Experience in aircraft heavy maintenance (Depot Level)
- Strong communication and teamwork abilities
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
REQUIRED EDUCATION Minimum level of education required is a High School Diploma/GED.
WORK HOURS FULL TIME/VARIABLE SHIFT. All submitted candidates should be available to work variable shifts based on business need (1st, 2nd & 3rd).PER CLIENT:
