Chipton-Ross is seeking a Milling Machinist for a contract opportunity in Hawthorne, CA.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS (REQUIRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE):
2-5+ years of CNC milling experience. Familiarity with FANUC or similar controls. Strong blueprint reading and measurement skills. Ability to work independently and troubleshoot machining problems. Experience with aluminum, stainless, steel, or exotic materials is a plus.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
Set up and operate CNC and/or manual milling machines (3-, 4-, or 5-axis depending on equipment). Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and work instructions. Install and set up tools, holders, vises, fixtures, and workholding. Perform program edits at the machine (FANUC experience preferred). Set tool lengths, work offsets, and verify correct program operation. Inspect finished parts using micrometers, calipers, height gages, and other precision tools. Hold tight tolerances and maintain consistent quality. Troubleshoot machining issues such as chatter, tool wear, or dimensional deviations. Maintain machine cleanliness and basic preventive maintenance. Document production data and quality measurements.
