Chipton-Ross is seeking a Software Engineer 4 for a contract opportunity in Newport News, VA



BASIC QUALIFICATIONS (REQUIRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE):

o 9 Years with Bachelor of Science degree in related field; 7 years of relevant professional experience with a Master's Degree; 4 years of relevant professional experience with a PhD. This position is intended to support the database development team in the Coatings Technology and Materials Engineering Department E33. Candidate must be able to work well with all types of different people in various positions both within the coatings commodity and various other commodities like welding and NDT to develop software that provides integrated solutions and streamlines disconnected processes and tools. Additionally, the candidate must be able to perform the following:
o Regular communication with direct management on progress. o Utilize customer input to improve deliverables. o Instruction and requirements development. o Agile project management. o Background using Azure DevOps and Git. o PPE: Hardhat, safety glasses, safety toe shoes.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:

Designs, develops, documents, tests and debugs applications software and systems that contain logical and mathematical solutions. Conducts multidisciplinary research and collaborates with equipment designers and/or hardware engineers in the planning, design, development, and utilization of electronic data processing systems for product and commercial software. Determines computer user needs; analyzes system capabilities to resolve problems on program intent, output requirements, input data acquisition, programming techniques and controls; prepares operating instructions; designs and develops compilers and assemblers, utility programs, and operating systems. Ensures software standards are met.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS (DESIRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE:

o C#, SQL, VB, Java, JSON, Python. o Working knowledge of LINQ and Entity Framework. o Visual Studio for software development. o Practical understanding of Microsoft Visual Basic. o Ability to work with variety of different people in the Trades, and Engineering Management. o Capable of leading multiple projects from a software development standpoint. The ability to communicate well with highly technical and non-technical people, and act as an intermediary between customers and software team. o Ability to refactor code solutions to make it cleaner and more efficient. The ability to coach junior members in problem solving and convey good coding practices. Working knowledge of clean code methodology. Working knowledge of Model-View-Presenter (MVP) architecture.

REQUIRED EDUCATION:

Bachelor of Science degree in related field is required. School must be accredited.

WORK HOURS:

5/40 workweek. First Shift 7:30AM-4:00 PM.


Employment will be contingent on clearing a drug screen and background check. Both must clear prior to start date.
