Chipton-Ross is seeking a GNC Engineer 3 for a contract opportunity in Chandler, AZ.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS (REQUIRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE):
- Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) discipline from an accredited university and required years of experience for level 3 engineer as follows: 5 years of related experience or a master’s degree in a STEM discipline and 3 years of experience, or a PhD and 0 years of experience.
- Must have an active U.S. Government DoD Top Secret security clearance at time of application, current and within scope
- Expertise in Guidance Navigation and Control (GNC) engineering,
- Experience designing, implementing and testing flight control algorithms.
- Experience working in a high-fidelity 6-DOF modeling and simulation environment.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
The GNC Engineer will design, develop, implement, verify, and test high-quality software and simulation toolchains. The candidate will be working on a 6 degree of freedom (6DOF) simulation to design and test missile flight code. The applicant will be creating and implementing 6DoF simulation models to evaluate system performance. The candidate will perform mission analysis on flight test and tactical systems. The engineer will need to have knowledge of missile flight dynamics. The candidate should have experience in creating, implementing and testing missile autopilot, navigation and guidance schemes. The candidate will mentor and train early career engineers on the team. The candidate should have experience with C++ programing language, as well as Python and MATLAB. Designs, develops, implements, verifies and tests algorithms and software and simulation tools to perform guidance, navigation and control of aircraft, spacecraft, submersibles, surface ships, missiles, launch vehicles and upper stages during powered and coast phases of launch, flight, earth orbit, interplanetary cruise and orbital insertion, as well as during staging events. Navigation functions include the statistical processing of measured data points and their substitution into algorithms simulating physical reality. Guidance functions include the formulation of specific equations to achieve a desired position, orientation or orbit in space. Control design and analyses processes consist of the development of the control laws and hardware and software requirements for aircraft, launch vehicles and/or spacecraft.PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS (DESIRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE:
- Experience working with GNC systems missiles
- Proficiency in C++ development in a Linux environment
- Proficiency in MATLAB and Python toolchains
- Masters’ or PhD Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) discipline from an accredited university
REQUIRED EDUCATION:
Bachelor's Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) discipline is required. School must be accredited.
HOURS:
9/80 workweek. 1st shift. On-site.ADDITIONAL:
