Chipton-Ross is seeking a CNC Mill Programmer for a direct opportunity in Torrance, CA.



Client is offering salary increases twice a year. BASIC QUALIFICATIONS (REQUIRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE):

  • 5 years of experience
  • Proficiency in CAD/CAM software (e.g., Mastercam, SolidWorks, Autodesk Fusion 360).
  • Strong understanding of G-code and M-code programming languages.
  • Ability to read and interpret complex blueprints and engineering drawings, including GD&T symbols.
  • Familiarity with various CNC machines (mills, lathes, routers) and their operational limits.
  • Experience using precision measuring instruments (micrometers, calipers, gauges).
  • Must be able to design cutting paths, tooling and tooling interface 5-axis on Mastercam and SolidWorks (CAD).
  • Excellent mathematical skills (including geometry and trigonometry).
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills for documentation and teamwork.
  • Mechanical aptitude and a commitment to safety protocols.
  • POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop, test, and write CNC programs, using Mastercam to control machinery.
  • Interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and design specifications to determine machining requirements, tool selection, and optimal machine settings.
  • Create and modify programs for maximum efficiency, accuracy, and productivity, and make manual adjustments as needed.
  • Monitor machine performance, conduct test runs, and troubleshoot problems during the manufacturing process.
  • Set up CNC mills and ensure proper handling of tools and materials. Installing and adjusting tools and fixtures, and calibrating machine parameters for precision and accuracy.
  • Conduct test runs (simulations) and initial part inspections to verify programs function correctly and products meet specifications, making adjustments as necessary.
  • Choose appropriate cutting tools, materials, and workholding solutions (jigs, fixtures, vises) based on part requirements and material properties.

  • Document processes, write clear setup sheets for machine operators, and collaborate with engineers and other team members to ensure smooth production.
