Job #220084Chipton-Ross is seeking an Optical Technician 3 for a contract opportunity in Woodland Hills, CA.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS (REQUIRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE)
- High school Diploma / Equivalent and work experience that will allow successful performance.
- Candidate to have minimum of 5 years' experience with excellent vision skills (especially under a microscope)
- Experience working in a glass precision polishing/ optics shop environment.
- Ability to follow instructions precisely in a Manufacturing Environment.
- Experience with hand tools and measurement equipment, such as, autocollimator, interferometer and digital indicators.
- Effective oral and written communication.
- Basic math proficiency.
- Strong attention to details and commitment to quality control.
- Basic computer knowledge (Microsoft Office and ERP Systems).
- Attention to safety (working with large machines) and ability to spend large portion of the day standing and moving as that is typically required in this area.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES
- Sets up and operates a variety of precision polishing machines to perform quantity production glass polishing to close tolerances where polishing methods and sequences are predetermined and established tooling provided.
- Performs operations such as super polishing glass surfaces to meet requirements on angles, surface finish, flatness and more.
- Selects, mounts, and aligns various specialized attachments and standard tooling; interprets engineering specifications; uses a variety of precision measuring instruments.
- Makes standard shop calculations.
- May monitor and verify quality in accordance with statistical process or other control procedures.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS (DESIRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE)
- Maintaining / Setting-up polishing tables to surface finishing and flatness requirements.
- Ability to participate in team investigations of a process development nature are expected.
- Familiarity with SPC, LEAN desirable
REQUIRED EDUCATION
High school diploma or equivalent is required.
School must be accredited.
WORK HOURS
9/80 workweek.

- Employment will be contingent on clearing a drug screen and background check. Both must clear prior to start date.
