- Chipton-Ross is seeking a Electrical Engineer 1 for an opening in Avondale, LA.
Candidate will be responsible for establishing, overseeing, and managing all activities related to assigned shipboard systems. Candidate will perform the following: Research, development, and design of electrical components, equipment, systems, and networks in accordance with all contractual requirements, military and commercial specifications; initiate procurement specifications; review and approve vendor proposals; review, comment on, adjudicate and approve vendor furnished information for translation into construction products; interface with vendors and Navy technical representatives; support vendor design reviews and testing; develop drawings and other documents IAW Mil-Specs and contract drawings; interface with other disciplines and departments to ensure a seamless integration of assigned systems into the shipboard environment; address and resolve technical issues, and make decisions on problems in his/her area of responsibility; support shipbuilding production department as required.
Bachelor’s of Electrical Engineering with two years of engineering experience, Master’s of Electrical Engineering with no prior experience, or similar degree background. Previous shipbuilding experience is highly desired. A qualified candidate should be proficient in Microsoft Office applications and AutoCAD 2014.
It is preferred that the candidate has some experience determining the size of electrical cables, panels, circuit breakers, transformers, switches, rectifiers, frequency changers, switchboards and other components comprising a Power distribution system. Familiarity with electrical lighting distribution systems, control systems, and C4ISR systems is a plus.
