177371 - Export Control Officer
Chipton-Ross is seeking an Export Control Officer for an opening in Reno, NV.

Export Control Officer (ECO) to be responsible for all aspects of the company’s export compliance policies, procedures, licensing, training and government communications. The position must effectively collaborate with management, IT, engineering and external partners to create policies, procedures and other infrastructure to ensure compliance with export regulations and with a minimum of overhead.

Create and update export control policies, procedures and work instructions for all departments
Perform classification of technology, data, software and hardware
Obtain Commodity Jurisdictions, Commodity Classifications, and Advisory Opinions as necessary
Prepare and submit license applications
Manage licenses with the assistance of project managers
Work with IT to establish requirements for internal access controls and recordkeeping, as well as for data sharing and recordkeeping with external partners
Work with Security to establish requirements for physical controls
Create training materials and conduct training
Recruit and manage additional export compliance professionals, as required
Attend continuing education classes and workshops
Represent Aerion and manage Aerion’s relationships with DDTC and BIS
Coordinate plans and processes with ECO’s of Aerion’s industrial partners
Serve on international trade committees within AIA and similar organizations as appropriate
Perform internal audits and commission outside audits, as required
Perform due diligence on supplier and industrial partner compliance processes

Requires a minimum of 10 years of deep, hands-on, highly relevant experience, ideally in an aircraft manufacturing environment
Extensive experience in classification, export licensing and license management
Subject-matter expert in the EAR and ITAR
Experience with writing corporate export policies and procedures
Demonstrated success leading an internal compliance organization
Have current contacts with aerospace licensing experts within BIS, DDTC and DTSA strongly preferred
Experience on a government/industry advisory committee such as DTAG, PECSEA or ITAG desired
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite applications, particularly Word, Excel and PowerPoint
Strong customer focus with experience in a global environment working with customers and suppliers
Strong/proven problem-solving skills across multi-disciplinary skill sets
Very strong decision making and communication skills
Ability to develop high levels of credibility and forge solid professional relationships with subordinates, peers, and management
Ability to drive accountability appropriately within the organization
Excellent presentation skills to supporting teams, managers, and executives

Accredited Bachelor's Degree in a relevant area, with a Master’s Degree preferred


Employment will be contingent on clearing a drug screen and background check. Both must clear prior to start date.
