Description
Chipton-Ross is seeking a Linux Administrator for an opening in Reno, NV.

Linux Administrator handles day-to-day tier 2 and 3 administration of all Linux workstations and servers. Using knowledge and experience in advanced Linux administration techniques, this position ensures the company’s Linux infrastructure is running at 99% uptime and efficiency.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Maintain the core Linux servers and provide usage and status reports to the IT manager with recommendations to increase efficiency and decrease problems that arise from day to day use.
Audit and provide solutions to ensure data is backed up and users are working at their best.
Document processes and procedures to assist backup administrators.
Assist help desk and support specialists with Linux user’s workstations to maintain 99% uptime and work with the security administrator to ensure machines are secured from cyber and internal threats.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:
Must have an engaging mindset that IT is a competitive advantage with the goal to make the engineering team highly efficient and effective in new product design
6+ years experience in IT with at least 2 of those in fast moving, heavily technology dependent startup environment
4+ years of Linux administration
Experience in high technology product based startup environments
Experience in a design engineering environment working on tight schedules
Prefer experience in management of large data centers
Ubuntu 14.04, 16.04, Mint 18, RHEL/Centos 6 and 7 basic skills
Gdm, mdm and ldm configuration and troubleshooting
Systemd troubleshooting
NetworkManager and network service configuration and troubleshooting
Cron
Rsync and comparable backup utilities
Syslog and rsyslog
MPI tracing and troubleshooting
Bash scripting and automation
Security patching across multiple platforms
System services debugging
Firewalld and iptables
Linux application compilation using gcc, mpi and intel compilers
Linux image capturing and deploying for efficient system buildouts
Excellent collaboration and team-oriented skills
Excellent oral and written communication skills

EDUCATION:
Accredited Bachelor’s degree in engineering or Computer Science; Masters degree highly desired

WORK HOURS:
Full-Time


Employment will be contingent on clearing a drug screen and background check. Both must clear prior to start date.
