Chipton-Ross is seeking a Structural Analysis Engineer for an opening in Arlington, TX.

Structural analysis engineer experienced with metallic and composite airframe, or related structures. Provides Fatigue and Damage Tolerance analysis support for new product development from conceptual through detail design.

Fatigue and Damage Tolerance position. Tasks include: o Understand civil and military airframe requirements related to Fatigue and Damage Tolerance (F&DT). o Work F&DT analysis tasks in the all phases of an aircraft development program. o Technical specialization in the field of Fatigue and Fracture analysis. o Frequent interface with management to receive direction, coordinate on technical issues, and provide status. o Assist with analysis methods and tool development related to F&DT analysis. o Work with all levels of Test and Certification of aircraft structure, to include supporting requirements for all levels of durability and damage tolerance testing. o Understand requirements for coupon testing for F&DT related properties and allowables. o Have F&DT experience in many of these areas: fatigue spectrum development, analysis tasks, preparation of analysis reports, determining and documenting test requirements and test requests related airframe development for F&DT. o Provide technical assistance for cost and weight reduction initiatives.

Some knowledge and experience is required in the following areas, with substantial experience in many of these areas: o Airframe structural criteria / requirements o Trade studies o Design layout development to define structural load paths o Internal loads development using various approaches including finite element modeling and analysis o Preliminary and final sizing analysis o Fatigue analysis using aerospace industry standard analysis calculation methods o Damage Tolerance analysis using aerospace industry standard analysis calculation methods and software o Concept development for least weight designs o Fatigue and Damage Tolerance (F&DT) analysis report preparation o F&DT analysis support for manufacturing and change board o F&DT support for structural test including coupon, design development, component and full-scale static and fatigue, and flight test o F&DT support for damage limits, structural repairs and mods to support repair limits and structural repair manual preparation Must be able to mentor less experienced engineers. Must be a self-starter with ability to work with little oversight. Must be able to work within the constraints imposed by an overall development schedule. Candidate must have technical proficiency in Fatigue and Damage Tolerance analysis theory, methods, and design best practices. Tools utilized may include CATIA, MSC NASTRAN / PATRAN, Hypermesh, TMP Vision/SLIM, Mechanica, StressCheck, AFGROW, NASGRO and a variety of other software applications related to airframe structure Fatigue and Damage Tolerance analysis and design.

Accredited Bachelor's degree Civil, Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering from an accredited university; and a minimum of ten years of related experience.


Employment will be contingent on clearing a drug screen and background check. Both must clear prior to start date.
