Description


Chipton-Ross is seeking a Principal Milling Machinist 3 for an opportunity in St. Augustine, FL.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Position Summary / Responsibilities Sets up and operates plain or universal, horizontal, or vertical milling machines to perform machining operations such as compound angles and contours; boring compound angular holes; doing helical and spiral milling; serrating; and gear, spline, and keyway cutting to exacting tolerances. Selects, mounts, and aligns various specialized machine attachments and standard or improvised tooling; plans sequence of operations, number of cuts required, and method of setup; determines, sets, and adjusts speeds, feeds, and depth of cut; interprets blueprints, sketches, and engineering specifications; uses a variety of machinist hand tools and precision measuring instruments; makes standard shop computations; and measures, marks, and scribes dimensions and reference points to lay out stock for machining. May monitor and verify quality in accordance with statistical process or other control procedures. Requires completion of a formal apprenticeship or equivalent training and experience. Exclude general, all-around machinists and operators who do not perform own setups or determine sequence of operations.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:
High School Diploma/GED required plus 4 years of relevant experience.
Knowledge of operating equipment such as milling machines, end mills, revolving lathe tools, and drill presses, to produce manufacturing parts out of metal, aluminum, steel, or plastic, often for the aerospace industry.
Must use blueprints provided by a company's engineers, mill machinists assess specifications and configure equipment to produce batches of parts.
Must have prior experience with Mastercam and Haas Control.
Preferred Qualifications:
8+ years of experience as a CNC Machinist preferred.
2 year technical diploma.
Ability to apply basic concepts of algebra and geometry.
Experience performing short machine runs with multiple set ups.
Sets up and operates special purpose equipment, conventional (CNC lathe and/or mill), and/or numerical control (NC) machines and machining centers for fabrication of metallic and nonmetallic parts that hold to the high quality machine standards required within the organization.

EDUCATION:
High School Diploma/GED is required.
Requires completion of a formal apprenticeship or equivalent training and experience. Exclude general, all around machinists and operators who do not perform own set.
School must be accredited.

HOURS:
9/80 workweek; must be flexible to work any shift.

Employment will be contingent on clearing a drug screen and background check. Both must clear prior to start date.
