First Article Inspection, Airframe, Catia

RESPONSIBILITIES:
This occupation requires the inspection of: - Major Airframe Assemblies - In Process Inspections - Final Installation Inspections - First Article Inspections - Automated Machine Parts/Assembly Inspection Determines method of inspection and type of setup required on first run parts which must be checked from surface plate. Setups. Determines allowable deviations in dimensions and finishes when not shown on blueprints or are not a matter of shop practice. Performs progressive layout operations to determine machine-ability and availability of material for subsequent machining operations on parts, castings, and forgings involving compound angles, compound and reverse contours, coordinated dimensions, numerous precision tolerance dimensions and/or irregular machines surfaces requiring three plane coordination. Lays out developmental parts, which require an inspection setup. Sets up part on surface plate using blocks, parallels, clamps, and V blocks to place part in desirable position for taking readings with precision measuring instruments. Checks first run or developmental parts and approves first correct part. Sets up thread comparator machine for production runs incidental to the other work described herein. Inspects parts involving numerous precision tolerance dimensions, coordinated dimensions, irregular surfaces requiring coordination in several planes, compound angles and compounds and reverse contours which must be inspected by precision measuring instruments from surfacer plate setups and where no inspection jigs or fixtures are available. Stamps or otherwise approves acceptable parts and prepares paper work as required. Use complex blueprints to visualize three dimensions from flat views. Use shop mathematics including algebra and fractions.
