Description
Chipton-Ross is seeking a System Administrator II for an opening in Cincinnati, OH.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Installs, configures, monitors, updates, maintains and repairs hardware and software relating to core network computing systems, with a focus on ensuring maximum functionality, performance, accessibility, security, availability and reliability of those systems. Hardware includes servers, switches, storage, firewalls and other physical infrastructure platforms. Software includes network operating systems, infrastructure systems, business application software and Engineering packages. Provide services and support to users of these systems.
Assist in the research and evaluation of new infrastructure hardware, software and technologies.
Perform installation, configuration, optimization, upgrade, patching, troubleshooting, and repair on basic hardware and software systems. Assist with more complex systems.

Perform log review and monitoring of systems to proactively identify problems, trace to root cause, and recommend remediation actions to maximize system reliability, availability, performance and security.

Create and maintain documentation of system installation and configuration. Create and maintain work instructions for maintenance and operational processes.

Assist in the creation and modification of department policies and procedures. Ensure compliance with sector, group or corporate policies relating to systems

Work with users to adapt new or existing technologies to fit the business needs. Provide user training for those systems.

Work with other IT team members on setup, maintenance or repair of basic systems. Assist with more complex systems.

Participate in planning for the implementation, upgrade, migration or close down of systems. Offer input on ways to make the project proceed more efficiently or ensure it meets its goals

Setup, maintain, and monitor system backups. Perform system restores. Participate in the recovery of failed systems. Participate in the creation, maintenance and testing of the IT Disaster Recovery Plan.

Prepare documentation needed for the approval and procurement of new systems

Maintain records of software licensing and hardware/software support agreements.

Install, update and maintain security systems, such as patch management, anti-virus, anti-malware, etc. Monitor for unauthorized access, virus and malware infections, system intrusion, or other compromises. Participate in responses to these events.

Take ownership of assigned tasks and proactively see them through to completion. Assume personal responsibility for systems for which the employee is primary support to ensure that they operate at maximum performance with minimal service interruptions.

Create and maintain user accounts to provide access to network services. Provision accounts with mailboxes, group memberships, permissions, etc. to provide appropriate functionality and access to users.

Execute scripts as needed for automated administration, monitoring of system status and responding to system problems.

Collaborate with others to share commonly used concepts, techniques and procedures. Provide backup to others in similar roles. Support helpdesk personnel.

Maintain a positive work atmosphere by acting and communicating in a manner that is cooperative and supportive of customers, co-workers and managers.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:
3-5 years in the IT field. Familiarity with server and application management techniques and processes along with knowledge of basic networking required. Experience with switch configuration, including basic setup, VLAN tagging, patching and integration into a larger network environment, is critical. Equivalent certifications will be considered.

4/9 & 1/4 (definition 4 9-hour days and 1 4-hour day)

Employment will be contingent on clearing a drug screen and background check. Both must clear prior to start date.
