Chipton-Ross is seeking a Sr. Enterprise Systems Management Engineer for an opportunity in Eagan, MN.
Northrop Grumman is seeking a Senior Enterprise Systems Management Engineer to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. Located in Eagan, MN, the position is on-site with no telecommute possibilities. This position is part of the Northrop Grumman's ETS Contract with the United States Postal Service, bringing top-of-the-line professional technologists to their teams.
The selected individual will be expected to work independently with a minimum of guidance or direction. He/she will report directly to the USPS ESM manager. This principal position requires a technical engineer with strong scripting knowledge who is considered an expert in the field. In addition, successful candidates will be required to lead the development and engineering of monitoring within the USPS enterprise.
Roles and Responsibilities include but not limited to:
o Design, develop, and deploy end-to-end monitoring solutions for enterprise operating system platforms and applications.
o Identify strategic opportunities for integration of monitoring infrastructure with other systems management solutions (hardware, storage, network and other third-party element managers) and provide leadership in the engineering and implementation of those integrations.
o Engineer and support the integration of ESM tools, such as SolarWinds, EverBridge, and Splunk.
o Develop performance and availability reports for engineering staff and management.
o Resolve problems within the monitoring infrastructure.
o Develop, maintain, and distribute written process documents for the daily management of ESM tools.
o Manage capacity of ESM toolsets to consider historical trends and anticipated growth to ensure adequate resources are continuously available.
o Develop and implement monitoring and event management methodologies that aid in proactive problem detection.
Prefer: Local to the Eagan, MN area. (This position does not provide relocation assistance.).
Bachelor's Degree and minimum of 6 years' relevant experience. An additional 4 years of directly-related (Total of 10 years) work experience may be considered in lieu of degree.
Proven Enterprise Systems Management (ESM) experience with multiple tool sets.
Solid working knowledge of Windows and Unix operating systems.
Must be equally comfortable working in GUI and CLI environments.
Strong Windows and/or Linux scripting knowledge (Unix/Linux shell and/or Windows Powershell).
Demonstrate strong knowledge of other scripting language (such as Python, PERL, and Selenium).
Experience architecting, engineering, and monitoring solutions for use within a large enterprise.
Experience using monitoring tools in any type of target environment (application, hardware, network, operating system, or application) and responding to system alerts.
Thorough understanding of SNMP and networking.
Good communication skills, interpersonal skills, and customer support skills.
Strong understanding of system calls with knowledge of how to programmatically use these calls to develop system monitoring.
Hands-on experience developing various integrations using Unix Shell Script, Powershell, REST, PERL, C#, .NET, and Python.
Experience developing business and IT KPI's for monitoring systems and applications.
Strong knowledge of monitoring and event management.
Strong knowledge of monitoring solutions in cross-platform (Windows/Linux) implementations.
Subject Matter Expert for following monitoring tools: SolarWinds WPM, Zabbix, AppDynamics and/or Splunk.
Bachelor's Degree is required. An additional 4 years of directly-related (Total of 10 years) work experience may be considered in lieu of degree.
School must be accredited.
