Description


Chipton-Ross is seeking an Engineer Software 3 for an opportunity in Newport News, VA..

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Designs, develops, documents, tests and debugs applications software and systems that contain logical and mathematical solutions. Conducts multidisciplinary research and collaborates with equipment designers and/or hardware engineers in the planning, design, development, and utilization of electronic data processing systems for product and commercial software. Determines computer user needs; analyzes system capabilities to resolve problems on program intent, output requirements, input data acquisition, programming techniques and controls; prepares operating instructions; designs and develops compilers and assemblers, utility programs, and operating systems. Ensures software standards are met.

Frequent inter-organizational and outside customer contacts. Represents the organization in providing solutions to difficult technical issues associated with specific projects.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:
5 Years with Bachelors in Science; 3 Years with Masters; 0 Years with PhD.
• Demonstration of software architecture development and maintenance required.
• Experience with C++ and/or Java required.
• Experience with C, C#, .NET, and Visual Basic preferred
• Experience with software design (CASE) toolsets such as UML preferred.
• Understanding of networking and communication protocols (SPI, I2C, USB, RS232, RS485, TCP/IP, Ethernet IP (CIP), Multicast) preferred.
• Experience with real time embedded system using C/C++ and Real-time Operating Systems (RTOS) beneficial.
• Applied knowledge of Software Development Life Cycles, both traditional (waterfall, iterative, spiral), and agile experience required.
This assignment does require PPE for when attending meetings inside the yard- hard hat, steel toes, safety glasses, and hearing protection.
Travel is required but not limited to Pittsburgh PA and DC.

EDUCATION:
Bachelors or Master's degree from accredited school.

HOURS:
5/40 workweek
Monday - Friday 7:30am- 4:00pm

MISCELLANEOUS:

Employment will be contingent on clearing a drug screen and background check. Both must clear prior to start date.
