- Chipton-Ross is seeking a Technician I for an opportunity in Irvine, CA.
Applies principles and theories of mechanical engineering to perform qualification testing of pilot control electro-mechanical systems of Collins Aerospace products in support of Engineering, manufacturing, and RCS activities
oBe responsible of qualification testing through all (executing, reporting, and troubleshooting)
oInstall, rig and torque pilot control systems for purpose testing operational limits.
oPerform Acceptance Testing (ATP) including mechanical rigging and monitoring of electrical sensors
oPerform vibration and EMI, vibration, limit load, ultimate load testing in outside labs followed under minimal supervision from engineering
oDocument test results clearly
oSupport electro-mechanical assembly & fabrication to support prototype builds, structural and cable assembly
oModify, upgrade or rework engineering hardware per engineering specifications/drawings
oTroubleshoot test stands for optimum functionality including calibrations
oCommunicate effectively status with leadership on issues that may affect testing
oApply mechanical theories such as torque arm
oSafety lead that entails reviewing all training records for the team and keeping an orderly record reporting any deficiencies
oChemical lead which includes, but not limited to, familiarity with the handling/disposal of typical chemicals used in an electromechanical lab, work with our chemical supplier, and coordinating that all chemicals are properly stored and/or labeled
oFamiliarity with CAD model integration with 3D printers to minimize both support material and time waste during print jobs
oKnowledge and experience using Laser Trackers/Scanners is a plus
oOvertime, weekend, and/or holiday work may be required
oMinimum of 5 years' experience working in environmental or test labs including related equipment & setups
oFamiliar with RTCA/DO-160 testing which covers standard procedures and environmental test criteria for testing airborne electronic equipment
oProficient with hand/power tools (force gauges, load cells, torque cells and crimping tools)
oProficient with electrical gauges and equipment (Multi-meter DMMs, power supply and soldering equipment)
oStrong documentation skills to support test report documentation, test procedures and instructions
oCommunicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing
oMust possess extensive experience using hand and power tools, measurement tools/gauges and equipment
oMust be organized and capable of keeping track of multiple tasks
oProficient Computer Skills for documentation support (Excel / Word)
oMust possess a valid class C driver's license
oAble to lift 50 lbs
oAble to function with no physical constraints or restrictions to perform typical technician work
Additional Preferred Skills:
oKnowledge and experience using Laser Trackers
oPrevious writing of Qualification Test Procedures (QTP)
oExtensive experience in building cable harnesses from blue prints (solder / crimp)
Accredited High School Diploma/GED
Employment will be contingent on clearing a drug screen and background check. Both must clear prior to start date.
