- Chipton-Ross is seeking a Senior Space System Engineer for an opening in Huntsville, AL.
" Provide technical leadership throughout the design, development, integration, and test of the satellite bus, payload, and ground station.
" Provide technical guidance and oversight to a multi-disciplinary team that covers all satellite subsystems and components including satellite mechanical structure; Tracking, Telemetry, & Control (TT&C); Attitude Determination and Control System (ADACS); flight computer; Electrical Power System (EPS) including solar arrays and batteries; deployment mechanisms; ground stations; RF and laser communications, etc.
" Provide technical leadership for the preparation and conduct of program reviews such as System Requirements Review, Preliminary Design Review, Critical Design Review, Mission Readiness Review, etc. including development of entrance and exit criteria, objective evidence artifacts, etc.
" Provide expertise to support the risk management process including the identification of technical, schedule, and cost risks as well as the development and management of risk mitigation plans.
" Support the program manager by providing technical oversight to subcontractors.
" Troubleshooting problems and develop resolutions to issues.
" Support test engineers in the development and review of test plans and procedures.
" Act as a technical interface for the satellite system to government customers and Client leadership/management.
" Facilitate rapid resolution of technical delays that impact tasks including real-time, thorough communication with task leads, program management and other leadership as required.
" Collaborate daily with Client and customer engineering and program management teams.
" Support the program manager in the development of the integrated master schedule as well as support the development of statements-of-work (SOWs) and technical requirements documents for subcontractors.
" Support development of purchase requests/purchase orders and provide coordination between engineering and the buyers and subcontract administrators.
" Provided documentation and makes technical presentations as required.
" Support development, review, and editing of technical documents and proposals as required.
" Perform other duties as required.
Demonstrates an extensive technical expertise and application of engineering principles, concepts, theory, and practice with the ability to organize, plan, schedule, conduct, and coordinate workloads to meet established deadlines or milestones with some experience in project leadership. Must possess the ability to understand new concepts quickly and apply them accurately throughout an evolving environment. Strong communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills are required enabling an effective interface with other departments and/or professionals, and capable of representing the organization as a prime technical contact, as well as providing leadership and guidance to less experienced professionals. Customer focused, formulates plans based on the development of innovative new designs in resolving advanced technical engineering problems. Must be able to work both independently and in a team environment. Able to work extended hours as required. A Professional Engineering License, original work(s) published in professional engineering journals, and invited to present one or more original works to an engineering symposium are desirable.
Bachelors degree, masters degree or PhD in engineering or a related technical discipline from an accredited institution and progressive engineering experience as follows; nine or more years of experience with a bachelors degree, seven or more years of experience with a masters degree, or four or more years with a PhD. May substitute equivalent engineering experience in lieu of education.
Employment will be contingent on clearing a drug screen and background check. Both must clear prior to start date.
