Description
Chipton-Ross is seeking a R&D Technician for an opening in Carson, CA.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
The R & D Technician interfaces with all engineers and other departments within Monogram including: Maintenance and Production. The R & D Technician is required to build full-scale mockup of aircraft WWS (water and waste system) and fabricate parts per blueprint, engineering drawings, schematics and test procedures and verbal instructions. This position assists engineers to record test results as prescribed in test documentation and help analyze the test results.
A. Machine/Fabricate/Weld parts for new design or product improvement.
B. Set up and safely operate various machines such as mills, lathes, saws, shear, brake, welder, and various hand tools and numerical controlled machines.
C. Build tooling, fixtures and shop aids per drawings, sketches and verbal instructions.
D. Build electrical test fixtures, harnesses and other devices per specifications, schematics, sketches and verbal instructions.
E. Assemble and make adjustments on prototype or product improvement assemblies and advise engineer of any problems.
F. Takes pride in producing high quality work that is free of errors.
G. Always conduct work in a safe manner.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:
A. Self-starter with initiative, being effective with the ability to work independently or within a cross functional team toward achieving results.
B. Have a thorough knowledge of Geometry and Trigonometry as used in the machining and fabricating of aircraft parts.
C. Understanding of aircraft plumbing.
D. Understanding of hydraulics and the use of them in test procedures.
E. Basic knowledge of refrigeration.
F. Understand aircraft structure and placement of components within the structure.
G. Experienced in electrical harness assembly process with the knowledge of specification controlled techniques such as soldering and crimping.
H. Knowledge in the use of NC machines. Knowledge of CAD & CAM and use in making shop aids and machining functions.
I. Have a thorough understanding of drawings and schematics related to engineered product and parts.
J. Ability to weld using various equipment (MIG/TIG/Gas/Arc).

Additional requirements:
A. Requires a thorough knowledge of Geometry and Trigonometry and their applications in machining, fabricating and assembly.
B. A minimum of 5 years working in the Research and Development field with the use of machine shop, fabrication, assembly and testing skills.
C. Must be able to read blueprint

EDUCATION:
Accredited High School Diploma/GED

WORK HOURS:
M-F, 7am-5pm
Full-Time

Employment will be contingent on clearing a drug screen and background check. Both must clear prior to start date.
