- This position will assist in developing and improving laboratory methods and procedures; will order, organize, and stock laboratory supply room to prevent run out of essential materials; will work with process/production engineers, new product development owners (R&D), and site supervision providing any technical support on special projects, quality, and process improvements as necessary. Completes and maintains accurate documentation of all testing work relative to finished product, in process material, raw materials, and environmental compliance. Ensures the laboratory analytical instruments are calibrated and maintained to provide accurate data. Provides support to the site supervision concerning batches out of specification, chemical operators' analytical testing training, raw materials and/or supplies purchasing, and logistics/accounting of finish products.
KEY ACTIVITIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
This jobholder will analyze all finished products as well as some in-process products and raw materials as needed; utilizing a variety of testing methodologies including, but not limited to, chemical and physical testing.
Will perform/ assist as needed in all environmental compliance testing, to ensure that plant environmental systems are operating properly.
Will evaluate in-process samples to ensure compliance with targets and specifications.
Calculates adjustments to the processes based on the obtained data if needed.
Will report test findings in appropriate information systems, and ensures the analytical equipment is fully functional and properly calibrated.
CONTEXT AND ENVIRONMENT
This position is located in the main laboratory of the plant with periodic visits to the satellite labs located within the production units throughout plant. Laboratory Technicians handle every finished product, in process material, and raw material that comes in the plant along with handling hazardous chemical reagents used to perform analysis. This position will work a rotating 3/2 shift including nights and weekends.
Supports the site HES policy and complies with all regulatory and internal requirements
Participates in HES activities provided by site management and Arkema Inc. (e.g., Behavioral Base Safety, SafeStart, etc.)
Supports and promotes the reporting of all health, safety, environmental, near-miss, accident or injury incidents
Comply with Regulations, Legal and Internal Requirements and Internal requirements as made known by the site and by the business unit.
Comply with the rules of the specific location to which one is assigned as well as the rules set by the business
Comply with all standard procedures and work instructions, aka, MOC's, LO/TO, to ensure productivity, quality assurance and cost effectiveness.
REQUIRED EDUCATION/QUALIFICATIONS /WORK EXPERIENCE
1 - 2 years of technical lab experience is required.
High school diploma or equivalent required. Prefer some college coursework in chemistry and mathematics.
Capable of decision-making and problem solving.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Personal computer and spreadsheet experience.
Ability to read, write, and type technical documentation.
Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment.
Ability to answer process related questions as well as make recommendations.
Aptitude to operate and maintain sophisticated analytical instrumentation.
Ability to work in a safe and efficient manner with hazardous chemicals.
Employment will be contingent on clearing a drug screen and background check. Both must clear prior to start date.
