Chipton-Ross is seeking a Buyer for an opening in Marietta, OH.

Performs activities related to the purchasing of materials, equipment and services for internal company use. Implements and communicates company policies and procedures for purchasing. Reviews purchase requests for completeness and compliance with company requirements; negotiates with suppliers and approves purchases of authorized amounts or size. Maintains and updates purchasing orders, systems, and documentation. Monitors the cost, schedule and performance metrics of contracts and subcontracts. Interfaces with Corporate and Group Category Managers. Lead and drive cost take out projects, supplier consolidation and supplier improvement projects Will be expected to perform project management tasks as a Leader or team member.

The Site Buyer performs all functions needed to ensure the lowest total cost of purchased materials, drives continuous improvement with assigned suppliers and support the success of the factory to provide a dependable supply chain of material and services. The successful Site Buyer owns the responsibility and accountability of the Supplier’s performance in meeting the demands of the factory.

This role will be assigned specific commodity /suppliers to managed and to balance the objectives of maximum product availability with Supplier Managed Inventory plans that will absorb reasonable spikes in demand. Buyer participates in negotiations with suppliers to implement proactive production philosophies, improved pricing, strategies, policies, and procedures for successful integration into multiple business plans across various corporate departments. This is a critical position to the success of the factory and must be responsive to the needs of internal and external (suppliers) customers. The role includes team participation.

Essential Functions
Experience and knowledge managing global suppliers, determining the total cost of ownership of a purchased part, understanding manufacturing process, potential manufacturing bottlenecks and addressing current and projected Supplier capacity restraints. Site Buyer will be required to maintain a Supplier RAIL (Rolling Action item List) of open issues between the supplier and the factory to drive open issues in a reasonable manner. Understand buying and contracting policies and procedures. Demonstrate knowledge of business concepts/principles (terms and conditions, transportation, accounting, elements of cost). Knowledge of supply chain programs and the ability to manage project execution of these programs. Responsible for developing, maintaining, and implementing strategic projects to support the success of the factory or a product line move to another facility.
MRP knowledge and ERP experience in a manufacturing environment. Evaluate key performance indicators and drive improvements through strategy adjustments. Monitors production performance and assures that MRP parameters are in line with demonstrated performances. Communicates effectively with business leads, SIOP, and planning to assure supply. Recognize problems, analyze and recommend solutions. Experience in building plans to meet financial targets. Optimize supply chain to minimize waste. Manage new part release MRP parameters set up and participate in New Product Initiative teams. Participate in Supplier performance metrics: Supplier on Time delivery (SOTD), Supplier Defective Parts per Million (DPPM), Supplier stocking programs, purchase order management, Backorders, and PPV. Process improvement capability. All other duties as required or assigned.

Uses skills as an experienced professional with an understanding of industry practices and company policies and procedures; resolves a wide range of issues in imaginative as well as practical ways. This job is the fully qualified, career-oriented, journey-level position. Participates with other managers to establish programs, policies, and objectives. Makes decisions on administrative or operational matters and ensures effective achievement of operation’s objectives. Erroneous decisions will have a serious impact on the overall success of functional, division, or company operations. Must demonstrate judgment, tact and diplomacy in dealing with internal and external customers.

Complexity/Decision Making:
Exercises judgment within broadly defined practices and policies. Selects methods and techniques of obtaining solutions to problems of relatively routine to diverse scope and moderate to highly complexity, requiring analysis of identifiable factors.

Has contact with all levels of company employees. Negotiates and exchanges information with all levels of management. Drives a strategic vision of procurement through a diverse set of stakeholders including manufacturing, supply chain planning, scheduling, quality, commercial and facilities. Works and communicates with external business partners on subject matter that can carry significant impacts to the business.

Performs assignments independently with instructions from management limited to results expected. Able to manage and prioritize own time. Provides feedback and periodic updates to managers on status of goal/project assignments.

Minimum 2 years business experience in a Procurement / Sourcing / Engineering position. Advanced skills in Excel. Experience in MRP / ERP systems. Possess a basic technical understanding of how to interpret drawings /specifications. Experienced in supplier consolidation and product transfer initiatives.

Preferred Qualifications:
C.P.M., APICS, CPIM certification preferred. Project management experience. Global procurement experience. Experienced in managing contract manufacturers.

Accredited Bachelor’s degree in business or engineering.
