Description


Chipton-Ross is seeking a Human Factors Engineer 3 for an opening in Newport News, VA.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Applies human performance principles, methodologies, and technologies to the design of human-machine systems and products. Develops and implements research methodologies and statistical analysis plans to test and evaluate developmental prototypes used in new products and processes, such as cockpit designs, user workstations, and computerized human models. Interfaces with design engineers to establish system design, operating, and training requirements and to ensure optimized human-machine interfaces. Identifies and analyzes technological problems or risks, performs theoretical human factors investigations, and develops and implements research and analysis plans.
This position will specifically support user experience research and studies to support the development of advanced technology solutions (Mobile applications, augmented reality, virtual reality, etc.)
Knowledge
Complete understanding and wide application of technical principle, theories, and concepts in the field. General knowledge of other related disciplines.

Provide technical solutions to a wide range of complex difficult problems. Solutions are imaginative, thorough, practicable, and consistent with organization objectives.

Frequent inter-organizational and outside customer contacts. Represents the organization in providing solutions to difficult technical issues associated with specific projects.

REQUIREMENTS:
Must have 5 Years with Bachelors in Science; 3 Years with Masters; 0 Years with P.
o Experienced in both qualitative and quantitative user research methodologies and understanding the limitations of each
o Experienced in designing and conducting usability studies, contextual inquiries, surveys, ethnographic observation etc. Experience interpreting research findings, and communicating actionable insights back to the design and development team through journey maps, reports, wireframes, storyboards, etc.
o Experience conducting user research as a part of an agile development team
o Background in User Experience, HCI, Human Factors, Cognitive Science, Psychology

Driving to other NNS facility locations around Newport News may be required. This assignment may require travel. PPE will be required. Ear Muffs, Hard Hat, Safety Glasses, Steel Toe Boots

EDUCATION:
Bachelors in Science or Masters is required.

HOURS:
5/40 workweek

Employment will be contingent on clearing a drug screen and background check. Both must clear prior to start date.
